Einladung zum Mord (2000)
Great potential, but it got lost through out the film
EINLADUNG ZUM MORD, turns out to be a surprise on late night TV. Story is set in Africa, where a teenager girl is set up for murder by her own parents. Setting in beautiful Capetown has it's moments, but since this a german TV movie, all of a sudden the south African speak ALL German - how stupid. Acting in this mystery thriller is above average, outstanding however is Ken Duken. Good looks, this guy has got something, that hopefully gets the attention of other producers. The film can be recommended for late night tv, anything else will bore you.
Die endlose Nacht (1963)
Considering the times, one great german picture
After almost 35 years one has to look at DIE ENDLOSE NACHT as a truly brave production. Financed on a shoostring, with upcomming actors (H. Elsner) this one sticks out of all the other "lame" pictures of that year. Director & Producer Tremper wrote & directed a wounderful one-night-at-the-airport film. The famous Tempelhof airport is setting for six individuals who are stuck in the building, because of deep fog. No aircraft can take off. "Not even the Russians would dare to fly out" - quote. Shot in beautiful ultravision - cinemascope - with a sexy Jazz music by composer Peter Thomas, you can breath the 1960s mood of Berlin. Anyone who is interested in those times should not miss this b/w movie. Same setting is by the way in the V.I.P.s with Burton & Taylor...
The Party (1968)
Peter Sellers at his best
Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards team up for one of the best comedys ever. Simply story outline, a hopeless indian actors is invited by mistake to y hollywood producers top notch party. Now everthing goes wrong. Starting with a drunk waiter up to an elephant in the pool. Enjoy this very 60s comedy. You won't be dissapointed. Hope the studio will soon release this masterpice on dvd
