Must watch for today's generation
11 April 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent debut by Nandita Das in a different role. The true picture of what is happening around. Naseeruddin shah was just as good as we saw him 30 years ago. Excellent theme, and good direction. This one is truly a heart touching movie, and questions the today's generation about what is humanity. I could not see the entire movie.... overwhelming emotions. Set over a 24-hour period, the narrative jumps among multiple story arcs centering on Muslim and Hindi characters from various social classes. Bourgeois couple Sameer (Sanjay Suri) and Anu (Tisca Chopra) debate whether to flee the city; the devoted servant (Raghubir Yadav) of classical vocalist (Naseeruddin Shah) tries to keep grim reality from his beloved master; an abused wife (Deepti Naval) gains the courage to leave her bigoted husband; and henna artist Muneera (upcoming talent Shahana Goswami) suspects her best friend's husband of arson. Mostly melodramatic playing and simple production design wouldn't seem out of place on small screens. Low-budget tech package is serviceable. In all, a must watch!!!!!!!!!!

Outstanding.. what else can we say!!!
29 August 2008
An outstanding creative work by UTV Motion Pictures depicting the true Spirit of Mumbai with shades of every aspect. KK, Madhavan, Irfan, Soha and Paresh Rawal were extravagant. All of them try tackling their issue on their own. And by the end of it, all of them move on in life. And that has been portrayed as the 'spirit of Mumbai'. Hence the name – "Mumbai Meri Jaan". The movie presents the difference in various point of views from which people looked at the incidence of Mumbai Train Blasts in July 2006. At one level, it shows how there are people who overcame the fear of bomb blasts and moved on in life as if nothing has changed. While there is another sect of people whose lives have forever been unsettled because of this incident.

In all, the movie deserves an A+, and is a must watch.

Slow moving script
15 June 2008
Priyadarshan's magic could not be found in this one. Not as hilarious as his previous ones were. Moreover, there were hardly any good jokes. Om Puri and Paresh Rawal were excellent and funny as usual. The first half was funny and all credits to the duo; but the latter half did the movie in. The Climax was poor. The locations and direction were upto the mark except for a slow moving script and needless songs. Akshay khanna was okay. Genelia D'souza, the actress we saw in Masti and some telugu movies was found to be hyper... don't know whether the role demanded such overacting or it was natural. Rajpal yadav in his short scene was very funny. Priyadarshan had unnecessary scenes, songs, etcetera and he was trying his level best to tie the scenes together. Overall, worth watching if someone offers the tickets or have no other things to do.

Strong Comeback by RGV,
8 June 2008
After a series of disasters, Ram Gopal Verma has shown maturity this time and has comeback strongly through this entertaining political drama. He has shown his talents which we saw in his earlier hits like Rangeela and Satya. Words will fall short to write about Big B's performance. He has shown why he is still the ONLY King in the bollywood dynasty and is ruling over the Khans. In short, he was excellent. Abhishek Bachchan is still learning under the shadow of his father and has definitely shown the presence of genetically inherited gift of acting. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has done justice to her role in her short cameo and was not seen nervous anytime in her scenes with her Father-in-law. A great improvement in chemistry with her Husband after a huge failure in their Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. The only pitfall I found was the last scene in which she demands a cup of tea... I felt like laughing, does not suit her.... Sayaji Shinde, a huge talent, always underestimated and kept low profile was excellent. I would have had loved to see him more. Goving Namdeo and Limaye were acceptable. Dilip Prabhavalkar also was excellent and has acted well in contradicting scenarios as compared to Munnabhai. Last but not the least, this guy, Rajesh Shingarpore, A Hema Malini discovery, was just awesome. He has a great future ahead. In all, Recommended to be watched.

Music takes it to three, other than that not worth
22 May 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Poor presentation and a disaster presented by the Bhatts. Emraan and the newly launched Sonal Chauhan justified their roles. Poor script did this film down. Music has been good as usual for Bhatts. Stories about match fixing and cricket may not be able to pull the movie ahead. Probably would have worked in the heap of Bob Woolmer Controversy... The initial part was the routine old love story, with breaking glasses and the love at first sight stuff.. don't know why bollywood does the same again and again? Then the story moves ahead much shabbily with the anything for money sort story filled with match fixing scandals, killing of the coach, underworld connections, and lastly killed for the ring. Probably, when I decided to watch it, I had a lot of expectations from a Mahesh Bhatt flicker, but this one dint keep up with the history of Bhatts and moreover, my own expectations.

Watch with and for the Kids... Deserves a Look
22 May 2008
The story of a good and friendly ghost portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh has given an astounding performance, but than his was a performance of his little co-star from Amitabh's own native town of Allahabad, Aman Sddiqui. This boy has a great future ahead. Juhi and Shahrukh did their cameos in a justified way.Rajpal Yadav was hilarious as usual. Music was good and soothing to the ears. The story line was not that strong, but if the movie was made to be targeting the "Krissh" audience and their guardians, we should not be complaining. The media publicity about the story changes in the end to make its sequel in the near future was a good way for keeping the kids happy and guessing for what would be their in the next version. Overall, deserves a watch with and for the kids during this summer vacations.

Must Watch
6 May 2008
Very rarely does one come across a film that makes the other films look so trivial in comparison. An excellent masterpiece... Must watch for all audience. Pankaj Kapur as, usual has come up with an extraordinary performance. Bhavna Talwar has done a fabulous artwork to present such a beauty in her directorial debut. Outstanding locations, and beautifully presented the traditional culture. Vibha Singh, the screenplay writer, was awesome in giving a very different and sensitive storyline. An outstanding film in all respects, this one deserves the highest praise and of course, the highest award. Indeed, true religion is humanity.
