Ren hu lian (1977)
weird mix of genres
If this is the same movie that's in my 50 kung fu movie box set, then this is a really weird movie where a child is raised in the wilderness, by his mother, along with a pet tiger. He then returns home to his family and ends up fighting with a rival family, or something like that. Then, about 2/3rds of the way through, the mother and son are killed. Out of nowhere, the tiger starts thinking to itself, in human language, about how it wants revenge, and turns itself into a witch. Only, instead of just killing the bad guys, it starts to kill indiscriminately, becoming evil. Finally, someone kills it. I might have some of the details of the plot wrong, but that's basically it. There are some very badly choreographed kung fu scenes at the beginning of Tiger Love. Once the tiger turns evil, however, it's more of a weird supernatural horror movie.
Cyberjack (1995)
Pretty enjoyable
I thought the movie was a lot of fun. Yes, it was a Die Hard rip off, but Michael Dudikoff is just as entertaining to me as Bruce Willis, so I enjoyed it. Some of the dialog is so bad its funny. Overall, pretty underrated. It's not as good as American Ninja or Platoon Leader, but still not one of his worst. I'd say this is probably on the level of Chain of Command, also an enjoyable movie. Dudikoff plays the part perfectly, mostly laid back, but ready to kick ass if he needs to. Brion James is good, way over the top, but still one of his more memorable parts. His faux British accent comes and goes at the drop of a hat, and that is pretty ridiculous, but it just adds to the humor of the film. The effects are also very bad, like a lot of bad CGI from the early nineties. Bottom line, if you like Michael Dudikoff, you'll like this movie. If not, you won't.
American Commandos (1985)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes this movie
It's like the guy above me said, the movie is full of plot holes and goes from Death Wish to ...some other movie, out of nowhere. But I enjoyed the hell out of it.
One thing I thought was a little bit hypocritical - he's on a mission to put a stop to drug crime, but it's perfectly fine for his buddy to own a whorehouse, and he even sleeps with the prostitutes there. This after his wife and son just died too....
Also there are two scenes that are supposed to take place at completely different times, where Mitchell tries to get information from Creeper. It's very obvious they were filmed at the exact same time, and the only difference apart from dialog is that Creeper's Olympia beer shirt is replaced with a Budweiser beer shirt. For some reason this was funny to me.
Still 1.6/10? That's a little harsh if you ask me.
