The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009)
Entertaining nothing more...
Overall kind of disappointing movie. I was definitely expecting more from a remake, especially with John Travolta and Denzel Washington as main characters. I was however impressed by the way it was filmed. Jagged camera, blurry shots, more like a documentary. Special effects are good as well and worth seeing, especially that police car running through the city of New York, very impressive. Overall entertaining nothing more, the kind of movie which is good enough for a Friday night if you do have nothing else to do in town... the movie end is kind of obvious no big surprises. A movie for rent, no need to go to a movie theater for that...
Alone in the Dark II (2008)
Alone in the dark....too
I did not know what to do last night, as it was unexpectedly raining in Dubai. I stopped by the Grand Cinemas at the Mercato Mall and for some unknown reason, decided to spend...sorry waste 30 dirhams to see that movie.
Yes, i found myself alone in the dark too ! The only guy in that movie theatre. At first i thought i was early, which actually was the case, then as the movie started, i realized that i was still alone in the dark.
Then after half an hour watching that movie, i did understand why...But never did understand the story of that movie, if any. Anyway, arriving early was also good in itself, as i did at least enjoyed the commercials and movies preview.
But Alone in the Dark 2, was absolutely crap ! Bad acting, with newbie actors staring from time to time at the camera ( Damned ! they told me already it is not a prop ! ), the worst special effects i have ever seen so far, the worst CG, the worst story and i still wonder how they managed to make a sequel.
The veins appearing on that Chinese guy are amazing !!! You can even see the glue to stick them to the skin !!!! 1 (awful) out of 10, but honestly it deserves a 0 or minus something...
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)
In the name of the King...Please, no more..
I totally agree with previous comment on that "movie". What a waste of time, two hours to watch that ! Lucky i did not have to pay to watch that piece of art either ! as i downloaded it from some sites for free, since, i believe that movie do not even worth the time spent to complete the download, my sincere apologize to my internet service provider for the over use of bandwidth ! What is all about those bad and low budget movies, always shot in Vancouver !?? Do American producers and film makers have something against Canadian and the Beautiful British-Columbia ?? Sorry, i totally forgot that "Juno" was shot there as well, what a great movie !! Thumbs up !!! But let go back to " In the name of the King ". All those monster soldiers made of obvious rubber cheap outfit, remind me the "Ninja Turtles" ( another piece of...art, made in Vancouver ).
The acting is bad, the cast is bad, Ray Liotta is bad acting and cannot even succeed to laugh naturally... It seems that the budget was entirely used for the last five minutes of the movie, with a couple of nice computer graphic effects and that's it ! By the way, it looks that it had been shot in the very same location of the 1999 movie " The 13th warrior", the setting looks pretty similar, but this time, Antonio Banderas did not want to make another mistake !!!...
