Gremlins (1984)
NAUGHTY
25 October 2003
Hi ho , hi ho , it's off to work we go. I wish I could say this on Monday mornings after I get up. But on the weekends it's a different story when I watch this movie. I first got it a few years ago and I was ashamed of myself after waiting all these years. Gizmo was cute and innocent but after those rules were broken , here come the mean and gricous Gremlins. No matter how vicious they were or playing tricks on people much less getting drunk in a bar , these were the bad guys and you had to expect anything.

I still remember watching this from the first time and I've always wondered a few things - What happened to Johnny and the other bad guys ? Why didn't they show up at this tournament and see how things turned out ? After all , Johnny lost and he should of came back to see how good this guy was. How was their instructor able to stay in business for nine months without any students ? Who was Daniel going to sell the tree to ? How come Mike acted like he did during the last match ? Actually I thought Johnny was going to help Daniel somewhere since the Cobras tried to cheat on him and probably knew Mr.Kreese was going to do it again. This would of been interesting - let Johnny stand up for Daniel since he now knows what's right and wrong and take on Mike. Too much cussing was in it also. Johnny could of done the same but at least he kept it smooth and acted his age. His clothes were perfect also.

MEDICS

This is about as realistic as it gets but I never could figure out why they would show someone in the military that had epilepsy. There's one scene when someone had a seizure and if he actually had a gun he could of shot someone or himself. During a seizure a person does not know what he / she is doing. Before he joined they should of known about his health condition due to this reason. I know this because I have it myself and this scene is a little bit emotional but for all of you that have not witnessed one , this is what it's like. During that time someone also said ' Put a spoon in his mouth ' . People , do not do this and as for all you medics , PLEASE give us time to recover before you take us to the hospital.

TASTELESS
11 February 2003
I haven't seen this movie and I don't plan to but I've heard all the complaints about it.

I've also heard that the characters will insult another that have epilepsy. However the Epilepsy Foundation is getting plenty of attention about this.

Anyone that actually has the nerve to make a movie like this just shows what kind of taste they have to put money in their pocket.

Alien (1979)
live or die
6 January 2003
There are some science fiction movies we may stay with at one time such as Star Wars or Star Trek but sooner or later it'll come to an end. As for Alien , it'll keep on going.

There's no telling how many times I've watched it and I enjoy it every time. It's so realistic it'll make you think - what if something like this actually could happen ? It still freaks me out when I see that chestbuster scene and when they discover what's on Kane's face when they return from the spaceship. I give it a 10.

As for the second , sure those marines were tough and ready to fight , but the sad part is they had no idea what they were going to fight. This gets a 9.

Rocky V (1990)
One More Round
6 December 2002
Actually I didn't think it was all that bad. It wasn't as exciting as the other episodes but it made sense.

Rocky finally retires , goes broke , and ends up where it all started. I liked the scene whene he went to Mickey's gym and thought of that memory. Another one was when Tommy challenged Rocky to a fight but he just walked away and it went on. And after all these years Paulie said something that you can give him credit for.

The only thing I didn't like was when Rocky gave Tommy Apollo's shorts. That was going too far. If they were going to remember him they could of done it in a better way.

A Pumpkin Bomb

I hate to say it but I was a little bit disappointed also. I couldn't wait to see it, especially watching that crazy Green Goblin. I'm a true comic fan but when I picked up a magazine and saw his picture on the cover I didn't know what it was. After I found out I thought this had to be a joke.

When he appeared in the movie I just shook my head. This Goblin looked more like a robot.( Or The Jackal for all of you that know who I'm talking about )What happened to his purple costume ? And his jet glider. The head on it looked like a bird. That could of been better. The glider itself was ok.

I liked the battle he fought with Spider - Man after he kid-napped Mary Jane and how it came to an end.

In my opinion I think it would of been better if the Goblin called Spider - Man Parker instead of wall crawler etc. during their battles since he knew who he was.

Kristen Dunst did her part well and I'll give credit for the special

effects also.

Fly High

I had totally forgotten what this movie was about but after I saw it at the cinema I told myself " When it comes out on DVD ". I thought Owen Wilson did an excellent job and had a good sense of humor at times also.

Even though this wasn't a true war movie such as Saving Private Ryan or compare it to Black Hawk Down , it was exciting and fun to watch. After it got started it never stopped. After all , remember Top Gun ? Let's not take everything serious. If it wasn't for that movie I wonder how the F-14 got popular.

I thought the song they played during the Christmas mission was cool and the aerial photos as well. The scenes I liked were when they tried to escape the attacking missile and the rescue mission.

At times I thought this movie didn't make sense because how could some hot shot , high school kid be able to fly a military plane ? Just because he had so many hours in a simulator he was ready combat ? Get real. And especially after he rescued his father. Since he never had any aerial combat training , how did he do it just like any other pilot ?

RE : I just don't get it
29 September 2002
GlenysThom , after reading your letter I'll try to help you the best I can.

To start off with , from what it sounds like you're a little bit out of line from the way Sandy was dressed at the end of the movie. The reason she did this is because she had to change somehow and wanted to get Danny's attention once and for all. Listen to the song at the end of the car race. After all this time she had been a little church mouse and wasn't making any progress , she changed into a mountain lion that no one ever expected.

As for Danny , the reason he treated her like he did at the football game is because he had a reputation to keep as a T - Bird like his buddies. Even when he was with them , at times you could tell she was on his mind.

During the movie you could tell they had something for each other no matter what happened and wouldn't give up.

As for the song , I'll have to agree with you but I didn't write it.

Grease 2 (1982)
GREASED LIGTNIN
27 September 2002
It's been years since I've seen this movie but I'll put down whatever I can remember. First was it really worth 2 hours ? Not to me. We all know the story by now and Michelle realizes that if he wants to become a T - Bird he has to own a motorcycle. So how does he get the money ? They pay him to do their homework. Get real. They probably spent most of their money on cigarettes than on malt shakes.

As for the music there wasn't much. Back to School was ok , since it was the end of summer and it was the first day of school. That one made sense. But I still can't get over that reproduction song and why they put it in. That was terrible , especially when he had to say ' our country , the red white and blue. ' I feel sorry for the person that wrote that.

Now the acting. I'll give them credit for the time and practice. But nothing fit. How could Michelle jump over a car in the parking lot without a ramp ? And the book he was reading before he entered the bowling alley. I believe that was a slang book or something ? As for the Pink Ladies , they were actually someone's 'property' ?

If you plan to spend your time and money wisely , do it on the first one bacause this is THE ONE THAT YOU WANT !

Hey people , if some of you never knew this but back in 98 Didi Conn made a book of Grease since it was the 20th year anniversary. It's titled 'Frenchy's Grease Scrapbook.' It has alot of information about the movie and pictures as well. Call your bookstore and get a copy now ! now !

I love the movie but there was one thing that let me down. During the warm up dance , Rock & Roll is Here to Stay , that was too short. That's a good , fast , dancing song and if it went just a little bit longer.

Now & Then
25 September 2002
There's no telling how many times I've watched this movie and there's no telling how many more will come. I've always enjoyed it but I keep forgetting the 'Blue Moon ' scene which cracks me up. I also enjoy the high school dance off and the moves that they do. To me this seems like it would be pretty fun.

Now from the way I see it , this movie gives you a pretty good example of how kids would act and the way they dressed. Just like Back to the Future.

The songs were good also but I have to say there might be a slight caution in Greased Ligtnin for kids.

At times it's good to see movies like this when things were safe and calm compared of how it is now.

From the start to the end I had no idea what was going on. And if somebody said something that was funny , what was it ? I didn't catch it. And the deal with the Windex bottle. Apparentley my party caught it but once again that question mark was in my head. I would take Short Circuit over this.

I watched this movie again the other night and I've always enjoyed it. By now I believe we all know the story and how it ends which is a mystery. Did they make it or not ?

Anyway the part I forgot was when the fourth person had some problems breaking out of his cell and couldn't catch up with Frank or the Aublin brothers. Why didn't they wait for him ? He was in it as much as they were and they leave him behind.

However , if he knew what their plans were and if they actually made it , I would say they had a little surprise coming to them if you get my meaning.

Spider-Man (2002)
The Joker
20 August 2002
If I had known it was going to be like this I would of stayed home. To start off with , Peter's first girlfriend wasn't Mary Jane - it was a blonde by the name of Gwen Stacy and it would of been better off if she was in it. However Mary Jane was a tomboy and was always waiting to make a move for Peter. Also when he got bitten by this spider , it happened when he was in college - not high school. And was this how he would actually spin his web - just touch his palm and it came out of his wrists as if it were blood ? I don't think so.

As for the Goblin's costume , he looked like some kind of robot. His mouth didn't even move when he talked. And most of the time when he would fight Spider - Man when they were alone , since he knew who he was he would call him Parker. If they did this in the movie that would of made it better.

There was one scene when his spider - sense warned him of danger when it shouldn't have. I believe Flash Thompson tried to hit Peter from behind and he moved. His senses are only supposed to warn him from his enemies - not his friends.

The only part I liked was when the Goblin captured Mary Jane and took her to the bridge and how he died. At least this part was correct with a certain comic story. Except it wasn't Mary Jane.

I believe I've said enough. For all you true fans that plan on going to see the second one , good luck.

Easy Rider (1969)
Attention Rednecks

After reading what this movie is about , to me it seems like nothing but a piece of trash. If any of you boys really want to see something 'funny' as you might call it , check out A Time to Kill directed by Joel Schumacher. This movie is also one of John Grisham's best novels.

This movie is about two Mississippi young men , drunk , high on dope , that raped and almost killed a black 10 yr. old girl. Her father took the law in his hands and came back for revenge but hired a white lawyer. Was he innocent or guilty for his actions ? Watch it yourself and if you do , don't laugh too much during the last 10 min.

Fore !

I'll watch this movie at times but whenever I do , I have to skip the scenes when Chevy Chase comes in because he was such a jerk. I can't stand that part when he's doing his special ' putting trick ' and what he's saying. Plus the time when he was with Danny.

One scene that was unexcueseable was that sex scene. This had nothing to do with golf. The only reason this was in the movie is because the girl was paid an extra ten grand to show her self. If you have the 20th anniversary she'll say it during the interview.

My favorite actor was Bill Murray. Blowing up the golf course at the end and watching that Gopher run for his life was probably the best part.

Another World
18 July 2002
Was this really a movie or just some kind of joke ?

I was looking forward to it just like everyone else but I couldn't believe how it turned out. Practically half of it was made up from a certain scene of that episode when at times it didn't have anything to do with the movie.

Now let's look at the plot. The kids find out they need $ 20,000.00 in a week to save their house and they try doing it by cutting grass or whatever - give me a break. ( This reminded me in Rad when the kid needed $ 50,000.00 to race ) Why didn't Bobby go out for a pool shark ? And as for the school scene when Peter was in class when he passed out from what they were talking about. Guys , I bet you really thought that subject was cool didn't you ? You probably played it twice. And girls , if your boyfriend was sitting next to you , I just wonder what he was thinking about.

And the acting could of been better. But first , when did Alice learn how to drive a truck ? She couldn't even drive a car. Speaking of cars , where was the station-wagon ? The color on the convertible wasn't even the right one.

Mike never did kiss Carol after he came home from work like he did in the episodes. He also said too many words of expressions. Peter's voice was way too deep during the song and I couldn't understand it.

Whenever Alice would try to be funny , her eyes would be so wide they'd look like golf balls. As for Jan , she didn't show any emotion at times and she'd swing her hair too much. Marcia did fine , but her poster wasn't the same as the original one. This one says Butterfly Love. It should say Butterfly Of Love.

I believe that's all I can say except I also grew up watching Leave it to Beaver and when that movie came out , it was worth it and it took away the Brady's.

Here's Beaver
17 July 2002
I grew up watching this show and I couldn't wait until the movie came out. After I watched it , the video was in my hands.

Since it was made from a tv series like The Brady Bunch , it beat them by a long shot.

It's worth watching and there's one scene that will tell you something if you pay attention to it. This is when the Beaver and his father are in the coffee cup and they're talking about ' the look '.

Eddie Haskell ( Ken Osmond ) appeared to have the right idea on his acting. Being around Ward and June he so polite but if he was with Wally or the Beaver it would be like he knew everything. Everyone else did a good job also. I liked the times whenever Lumpy would be so sloppy and eat anything in sight.

The funny thing about this movie is , when he got his bike for his birthday it brings back memories when I got one I kept dreaming about. It's a 20" red Diamond Back , alloy frame , three piece crank & double wall rim ( for all you riders to give you an idea.) That Christmas I thought it was over but sure enough at the last minute here it comes. It was 30* outside but I could care less ! I changed clothes and went for a spin. Since then it's been spotless and this was 4 years ago. I still have it.

Again as the movie , there's nothing wrong with it and enjoyable / relaxing for the whole family. There is a true example on this - DON'T let strangers ride your bike no matter what they say. Also lock it up. One time I thought mine was safe and I was gone for only 30 seconds. When I came out , it was gone but I caught them.

Grand Nationals
16 July 2002
At one time I thought this movie was ok but now that thought is history. I raced BMX for almost 20 yrs. and there's no way a rookie can come out and beat 20 pros. Besides , after turning rookie your next class is expert and then you turn pro. He didn't even know what a sponsor was. And to qualify for the main , which was Helltrack , what kind of a qualifing track was riding through trees ? Also , what kind of track was Helltrack ?

And as for his so called racing experience - what experience ? Delivering newspapers and riding on a lumberyard ? Not once had he ever raced and he comes out and wins on the world's most difficult track.

Lori Loughlin didn't fit and some of the others were out of line. The cussing that was supposed to be ' cool ' sounded more immature.

I figured he was going to win in some way but after I saw that backflip that took the cake.

I believe I've said enough but for all you that are still racing , hopefully you'll be here at the Grands again this year if we have it.

A Thriller
14 July 2002
This will always be one of my favorite horror movies. The first time I saw it was on tv after reading about it and thought it was going to be pretty good. It blew my mind away and I had to get the video. However, I couldn't believe the girl's locker room scene which I thought was going to be a lot of steam like the tv show.

Sissy Spacek ( Carrie ) and her crazy mother ( Piper Laurie )made the perfect couple. And from what their house looked like , it fit them just right.

My favorite part is when she gets revenge on everyone at the Prom. The music was good, she's standing there not moving a muscle with her eyes wide opened, the fire hose is attacking everyone like a snake, they're yelling and screaming for help, then all hell breaks loose. It just doesn't get any better.

if anyone would like to talk to me about this movie or any other please e - mail
