The Triangle (2001 TV Movie)
I've seen this somewhere before???
18 April 2003
Take the hotel from The Shining, put a bow and a stern on it, and you have The Triangle. Actually, this movie also reminded me a lot of the recently released Ghost Ship. How many movies can we make that feature the Queen Mary? I liked it. I watched it twice. If you're a fan of ships, mystery, ghosts or the paranormal you will too. I really think more could've been done with this film had it been made into a theater release, or direct to video. Another nice thing, is that it isn't gross, very bloody, and there are hardly any "language" issues. You can sit down with the family, pop the popcorn, turn the lights off and enjoy. You don't see that in many horror/ghost films anymore. I would ad it to my collection. If you decide to make this a choice for movie night, pick up The Poseidon Adventure and treat yourself to a double feature.

Vampire Clan (2002)
A must see for the college psych class
16 April 2003
Don't watch this with the expectations of seeing bats and fangs. The biggest disappointment is the title. I've seen MUCH worse. An actor can only go as far as a director allows them to. I have a feeling that the younger cast could've displayed their talents much more if they had the motivation in the script to do it. I've been acting for over 26 years and felt sorry at times for the cast. Some scripts/lines etc. can only be spoken and acted out one way. Unfortunately, when that happens, you have to go with it. There were times when I would ask myself "how could I do it better?" and the result would be what is already there. After watching Vampire Clan, the first thing that came to my mind was another, somewhat similar, "cult following" classic called Helter Skelter. Although different in many ways, those who have ever seen Helter Skelter also remember that it was a deep movie. I would have to agree that the teenage population, along with college students, could probably get more out of this if it was viewed as a project and not to be entertained. Vampire Clan is one of those movies where you have to stick with it from the get go or you lose interest fast. If that happens then you become lost with the plot. Except for a script, that I'm sure was taken from what the writers could only obtain from the actual news events, and a few choppy editing sequences (shortly after the scene with the cop while Rod was putting gas in the vehicle), it's not that bad of a movie. Don't blame the actors if you feel the finished product is poor. They are only one element. Out of a rating of 1-10, 10 being the highest, I would give it a 6 on the entertainment level. If a college professor could get away with showing this to a psych class then I would up the rating to an 8.5. I would love to see the conversations about this piece.

Not just another chick flick
5 July 2002
The movie is perceived as your average "chick flick" but there's so much more to it. First, you take "Charlie's Angels" and throw in some slap stick comedy. THEN, you add the guy/girl "shmooze" that's so common in these types of movies. The actresses portraying the models are what make this worth watching. The production staff took the stereotypical profile of the super model and clearly had fun with it. Its a good movie to watch and to laugh out loud to. If the girls playing the models had a few more screen credits to their names, this would've been a very easy script to take in a whole different direction generating even more laughs from the audience. I think girls AND guys will enjoy it.

From Hell (2001)
A mysterious "Who done it ?" that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
3 July 2002
This movie is a great mystery/suspense that keeps you guessing who the Ripper is throughout the movie. With his credit in Sleepy Hollow, and now this, Johnny Depp is on his way in following in the footsteps of Peter Cushing. Warning, From Hell does not discriminate in the blood and guts category. However, while watching the movie, viewers should be able to look beyond that and into the "criminology" aspect of the film. The science of this picture clearly demonstrates how crimes of the early centuries were looked upon, processed, investigated and solved. If you are a fan of scientology and criminology you will definitely take an interest in this script.

Jack-O (1995)
An okay movie for the kids on Halloween
28 June 2002
Because of the weak script, plot, acting and special effects, this isn't probably a film that the Horror Movie Fanatic might want to take into consideration. However, if you're looking for a movie for the kids for Halloween this would be a good one. Because of the rating "R", it would be the adults discretion whether to let the kids watch or not. There is some gore, but its not as "realistic" as you would find in more popular horror series. The fact that the plot takes place at Halloween also helps for the holiday spook fest. This was also one of the last films for Horror movie actor John Caradine. Notice how you really dont see him speak in the film, this was due to his illness.

A "who's who" of 1970's t.v. icons having fun at it's best
28 June 2002
This is a fun, adventurous, witty movie that the gang will love. In tradition of the original "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" and the "Cannonball Run" series, this is another fun movie where you see your favorite t.v. stars of the 70's in situations that you normally wouldn't see them in. It's great comedy and you don't have to worry about harsh language and the adult humor you would see in more recent movies of the same sort. It's a good summer movie for the whole family to watch on a Saturday afternoon. You'll be surprised at who you will see in the film.
