The Ref (1994)
"What kind of Christmas is this ?"
I start my Christmas movie season with this dark classic every year. Amazing performances for all the characters will just keep you wondering what will come out of their mouths next on first viewing. So believable you'll be glad you're not a part of this family. Glynis Johns is especially convincing as the controlling matriarch of the family that has always kept her sons wives in their place. Until tonight that is. "Slipper socks .. Medium !". Dennis Leary is perfect as the crook who stayed for dinner. This Christmas movie isn't some sweet tale of a perfect Christmas Eve by any means, it will reel you in to watch it every holiday season.
Let It Ride (1989)
Richard Dreyfuss gives one of his best comedic performances.
A must see movie for comedy loving fans. Richard Dreyfuss gives one of his best comedic performances in my opinion. A lovable loser, with an even more lovable best friend named "Looney" appropriately. Supporting characters make this an ensemble cast-like movie, with not well known actors. You will recognize quite a few of the supporting actors in this movie. Robbie Coltrain is fantastic as the clerk at the "$50.00 window...", and you might notice a certain "Sex in the City" star if you look closely. Classic lines can be pulled from this movie, unforgettable lines even from the smallest parts. As we hear "Trotter" talking to himself, calculating what to do next to what his winning could be. From the opening scene in a Chinese restaurant, to the last at the track this movie will keep you laughing. As well as thinking and remembering those days you might have put two dollars on a long shot yourself. You will love this movie the more you watch it, routing for the little guy.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
Cult film that will last for ALL time !!!
This film is the one and only Cult film that will last for ALL time. It proves that actors can sing, even if they can't act. Seeing this movie just once will never do it justice, as well as never seeing it in a movie theater on the big screen. Personally I first saw this movie on HBO when I was a wee little Translyvanian on Friday Nite Frenzy. Yes, that was at midnight, I was hooked from then on.
Great performances by Tim Curry, Richard O`Brien, and Patricia Quinn singing as well as acting. Meatloaf is fantastic as the surprise guest for dinner.
See it over and over again, the more you do , the more you will love it!!!
