Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
Dawn of a new age - Bandersnatch
28th Dec, 2018 - the date should be marked with BOLD RED in the evolution of television industry.
Charlie Brooker along with Netflix has just kick started a new era where not only the creator but also the observers will start taking control over the storytelling.
From complete story ( or should I call it a game!! ) pov one may choose not to put it on a very high pedestal (that's why I chose to give it 9/10), but the possibilities that this particular creation has revealed is just enormous.
Bandersnatch is not just a choose your own adventure story. It's actually much more complicated than that, as things you do in one "timeline" of decisions can affect other timelines, even if you pick the option to do it over.
And as you go deeper and deeper into it, the circuitry in you brain ll start frying out gradually.
Asha Jaoar Majhe (2014)
A glimpse of hope for which we keep on fighting ; shockingly beautiful
Many of us, specifically people of Bengal residing out of Bengal , are in a habit of crying out loud most of the time saying "Ei Bangalir dwara ar kissu hobe na [ Nothing good ll happen by these Bongs ]". But then something like this happens and you start wondering - would it be possible by any other person apart from a Bengali !? I have my doubts.
"Labour of love" or "Asha Jawar Majhe" - it is nowhere close to the very idea of film that we usually have in our mind. The 84 min journey is mundane, monotonous, banal in all its senses - but then you ll realize it is just depicting a single day of our very own life which itself is of the same nature.
This film has only two characters and none of them has a single dialogue. Because conversation is not mandatory to capture neither the repetitiveness of our daily chores nor those few special moments [ a window - one can say here ] for which we gather the energy to complete our hackneyed routine.
The level of detail of this film - I could not recall a single colored Bengali film which have the same. When the camera unusually zooms in and lingers over the seemingly insignificant things - the cracked wall, the sunset, the clothesline, the revolving cycle - it surely test viewer's patience but also tells a story - a story where everyone of us is fighting our daily battle to survive ; Sorry , not "to survive" , but "to love". The whole slow-pace was just an intriguingly exquisite build-up for the last 5 poetic min, where we comes to realize that - yes, to cherish just a few moments of love, we are being able to continue our vapid journey; we are ready to be a "Labour of Love".
Aditya Vikram Sengupta - What have you created!!!!
NOTE: Not in a mood to go into the insipid details of direction, camera, cinematography, sound or acting cause if all these have not been perfect, THIS experience wouldn't have been created at the very first place.
Jaatishwar (2014)
A periodic Bengali Musical - Class Apart
Jatishwar - The best possible start of a year Tollywood can expect.
Surely Srijit's best work till date. The style of linking that old KOBIGAAN with today's BAND Performances, the way of using skip scene to relate between very two different generation of Bengali Music was just marvelous. Apart from those aspect ,maintaining a proper storyline with some subtle emotion and a sublime love story - he deserves accolades for that. About acting everybody was good to their part.Jishu looks and acts beautifully. But when Prosenjit is there and decided 2 act it is hard 2 notice anything else. Top notch performance by our own Bumba DA, it is at per with Moner Manush,Autograph,22e Shrabon if not something more. Now comes DA best part of this movie - Kabir Suman. Credit goes to Srijit to let him explore the Bengali music at his own will. Suman almost played with Bengali Music in this film. One moment we are in 18th century Kobigaan asor with Vola Moyra and within a blink we come down to psychedelic rock of Sidhu,Rupam. Total 22 song in this film and it finishes with "E Tumi kemon tumi" and "Jatiswar". It wouldn't be possible by any other person apart from Suman.
A treat to watch. A musical journey. A nostalgic representation of Bengali Music.
Dev.D (2009)
dis is not just another Hindi movie, something much bigger, much deeper and much realistic than that
oh man!!!! what i saw just few hours back!! how can a bollywood flick can be made in such a manner!!! people say it is an adaptation of the classic "DEVDAS", but to me i think it starts from there where that 'devdas' ended.this movie is truly one of a kind;never see this kinda dark aspect of a love story in any Hindi movie before. i ll tell some striking point of this movie one by one. 1. Abhay Deol--this man does know how 2 act;not a single bit of over-acting,viewer ll not be able 2 distinguish him with any other random characters in our daily life suffering from same syndrome. 2. Anurag Kashyap-- aw sum directing....no words suits for him. and finally 3. the treatment--this is the most interesting part of this stunning movie;dev d isn't at all a fast paced movie, but AK never let us feel the slow nature;the camera-work is exceptional ( reminding me of legendary requiem for a dream );and the base of the story is so much realistic that it ll surely give a blow 2 the viewers.the conflict between conventional, orthodox nature with modern,open-minded nature is well portrayed.the final realization of the main protagonist of this movie is the USP of DEV D....nothing more 2 say,DEV D is indeed a milestone in Hindi film history
WALL·E (2008)
it will make you cry, never experienced before something like WALL-E
Initially i want 2 thanks PIXAR for making such a cinematic history.they started it with 'TOY STORY' & 'FINDING NEMO' but 'WALL-e' is a total different class.the most beautiful thing is that it ll never make u realize that u r actually watching a high-end animated motion pictures but it makes u feel something EARTHY.this movie goes deep into my mind with its subtle touch of romance along with sweet, little, cute animation....and more over this movie have sum message 2 deliver!!!! actually when the movie ended ,i remain seated for 15 minutes;my heart don't want 2 leave the screen, craving for more.wanted 2 spend some more time with my new buddy WALL-E.surely this is no ordinary.perfect, amazing,'extra ordinar-e'
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
BRUTAL..REALISTIC..MESMERIZING...pure injustice not giving it any Oscar
first, i m not going to suggest that this is a must-see film..i don't know how every people will react to this film.this is a heart-breaking.if any one like to be punched hard & mentally tormented then this movie is for them. The max share of credit goes to ARONOFSKY, man what a movie!!!apart from the stunning acting of ELLEN BURSTYN & JENNIFER CONNELLY all belong to the director no doubt..i don't know why no one(in other comments)mentioned the musical effect of this movie...the theme music & background score give it a high no doubt..after schindler's list this movie make me feel bad, make me cry.. finally i ll say another thing: the title & specially the word REQUIEM..literally it means prayer for the one who is dead..how our addiction can make us dead during our life-span is the concept of this awesome movie
Khuda Kay Liye (2007)
man....unexpectedly fantastic
when i started 2 watch dis film i was expecting a bit violent Muslim-anti Muslim conceptual presentation.at the end the movie makes me speechless.all the thoughts in this movie are very well depicted.both the two parallel story are so much natural that any person can find resemblance with..well directed no doubt, but i think specially the music of this movie is one of its USP.the final thing is that the ending.not a typically happy type ending but it touches me so much.the message is clear by its subtle ending..do what u wish but not for the sake of god.people often do unjustified things which they usually justified by the name of god.now....stop all this nonsense, fanatic act.
