The Voice of the Turtle (1947)
One of the most memorable romantic comedies I've ever seen
I have seen this movie not that often than ones I have in DVD and video but I swear that this would not only be the first movie I've seen in B&W, but also it is the best romantic and cutest movie ever made! Eleanor Parker plays Sally Middleton, a stage actress who was dumped so brokenheartedly by her former. She swore that she'll never ever love again. Then her friend Olive Lashbrooke (Eve Arden) comes into the picture and holds two dates for the weekend. She thinks love is a game where there has to be more than one player. She decided that she'll cancel her date with Sgt. Bill Paige (played by Ronald Reagan) and go with the other, Ned (Wayne Morris). She introduce Bill to Sally and left Sally with Bill for the weekend. Well, all magic of love happens despite the fact that Sally never wants to love again. Bill was a little sleepy and the only thing Sally could do is offer him the couch to sleep on. It's rainy and he has no where else to go. And so he stayed with her all weekend. I would really love for this movie to be on DVD! I would buy it even if it costs so much!
An Affair to Remember (1957)
Two people decide to meet at the top of the Empire State Building in six months...
This film is the most wonderful love story I have ever seen! I love the tandem! It brings the viewers to this magical land of romance without ruining the humor and love Nickie and Terry shares. The kissing scene was neatly done! Nickie with his feet hanging from the steps and Terry immediately "hugs" him while he's kissing her. It's so nice! At least if you're a kid, you won't see the actual kiss but be happy still! The ending was a little cheesy and a little hanging! It's when Terry says "It's the nearest thing to heaven... you were there!" but I guess she delivered the line so nicely, some people didn't notice how cheesy it was. It's just how she expresses her feelings! Nickie just nodded all the way till the end, realizing of course that his remorse was upside down all this time! And I think it's the nicest thing that you find out that you're wrong and the person you have put anger into wouldn't be mad at you or be disappointed. The two of them truly understand each other and as a result, they hug each other! It's so nice! All in all, it's the nicest things I've watched! I am watching it twice a week now and it's okay!
