Oblivious (2023)
Loved the score! "On that Day" should win best original song TV movie!
The film itself was decently presented, but what won me over was the score!
A lot of indie films lack to same care and attention to the score as they give to acting/cinematography. The composer in this film made the music its OWN character. While Nikki narrates and helps glue together parts of the story, the music did it more-so for me. In such a deep, romantic, yet dark story the music added an odd comfort that I really enjoyed. The finale song, "On that Day" was beautifully sang by Brooke Weirick. Very musical theater yet also very contemporary
As far as the feel of the music - think Horner meets Webber meets Zimmer. Reminded me a lot of a mix between Interstellar and Inception in terms of sound
As far as the film itself I was pleasantly surprised! While the film doesn't jump pretty quickly, you'll love the film if you enjoy good conversational scenes - these are short and simple moments. This film really lets the characters have deep conversations and for that reason it might not keep some's attention. However, I appreciated it!
