Tôkyô vanpaia hoteru: Eiga-ban (2017)
more like 'blood sex fountain'
So the first 40 minutes of the movie could have been condensed into10, it was just running, chasing, gun over and over again. The best character is at the start of the film and never comes back which is REALLY disappointing. The plot was confusing and made no sense but that made it more endearing. If it made sense everyone would realize it was dumb and stop watching. There was also about 10 minutes dedicated to singing this 1 line song throughout the movie and no one I watched it with could figure out why.
The strong points was the romance between Elizabeth and the guy in pink, some good shots, costume design and gore. The main character is also so kitty like, it's very cute and gothic.
Little Evil (2017)
Decently funny
I think little evil was a solid movie but it left some to be desired. The biggest thing it lacked was actual horror because at times I feel it tried to be a little scary but besides a singular scene I can't really think of anything that was slightly scary.
The pros? The best trans representation I've ever seen which was REALLY unexpected of the movie. Never once was Al (the trans character) made fun of for being trans. It was never even a plot point which was really refreshing. Al was literally just one of the guys which I wish more movies would do, just have trans representation in good characters without it being a joke/their defining character trait.
The movie was more cute then scary, so if your looking for horror I wouldn't watch it. If your looking for light laughs, good representation and more Brad Williams this is the film for you!
Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)
one of the best
One of if not THE best stop motion films to ever be made. From the characters to the writing to the design to the cinematography, it was all gorgeous. It's one of those few movies that are good for any setting. It's a family movie, it's a watch on your own movie, it's a recommend it to everyone you know kind of deal.
Everything about this movie is it's strong point but the characters really sell it. The main characters are charming and well rounded and only get better and better throughout the film. Even characters that don't get much screen time are so well animated and have such distinctive designs and mannerism you feel you get to know them.
Gothika (2003)
Very few redeeming features
The fact Gothika is a 'thriller' and 'horror' before comedy surprises me because there were so many things that were so unrealistic I had to actually laugh out loud. I'm not sure if they consulted anyone who worked in the psychiatric field before writing the movie because Merida being sent to the facility she works at was so necessary for the plot and so far fetched. Beyond that there were so many scenes (most prominently the shower scene) that really pulled me out and made me aware I was watching a movie. The acting was pretty good and some of the shots were okay but if your looking for an engaging or scary movie I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
