Hwang-ya (2024)
Nope
Where do I begin.
The setting is nice and the CGI work is very good. 80% of the movie is green screen and CGI and money was well spent. The fight scenes are okay but there's a massive problem with the constant shaky cam. You never really see what's actually happening cause of the heavily shaking cam and a billion cuts. That's a bit difficult to watch.
But what's annoying me the most is the classic trope thing. No idea why Film makers try to fool us. They apparently don't have running water for at least 3 years! No hygiene at all. We see a lot of people who are covered in dirt, as they should giving the circumstances. But the female love interest, who's character was written very boring and one dimensional (as usual) looks like a model. With a perfect haircut. Uhm... Why? Every person who's playing a bigger role (except of the cookie cutter bad guys) look perfectly fine. Just a little dust on the cheeks and their clothes. But that's about it. You do NOT look like that if you don't have water for 3 years. Not even if you're a pretty girl.
Stuff like that is just disappointing and utterly boring.
It's an entertaining movie if you're able to look over those unnecessary issues, you'd expect from a noob in the industry.
Back to Black (2024)
Whats wrong with people?
Classic IMDB- Audience.. you see someone you like, you rate it high regardless of the quality.
Amys live offers so much story to talk about but instead, they chose a very shallow direction and of course, focusing on the looks instead of actual biography. Hollywood is somehow allergic to honesty. So many moments of Amys life that were monumental just got left out. Not even mentioned.
The actors are okay but you can only be as good as the script is...looking similar alone wont do the job. Music is obviously great but other than that, just watch literally any documentation on her life on YouTube and you're more informed about Amy than from watching this pseudo sentimental interpretation of young artist.
If you're really a Fan of Amy, you can't like this movie.
Damsel (2024)
Nobody has standards anymore
It's always very funny to me how people would trash talk movies but still give them high ratings.
The setting of the movie is nice. Very good CGI work here. Angela Bassett is just 'the appearance' in every movie.
As far as acting goes, it's not bad but.... Meh. Not much acting needed in those shallow scripts and that's what you're getting.
But there's a massive problem I have with movies that are supposed to be medieval. WHY ARE THEY WEARING FULL FACE MAKEUP!?!?!?!? And they don't even hide it. The main character has a full smokey eye, lip gloss and bright pink lips..obvious blush and highlighter. Not even mentioning the bleached wite teeth everyone is spotting. Like, oh yeah we don't have running water but sure, makeup and high profile dentists are just... Heavenly sent I guess.
Yes there was light makeup back then but NOT to that extent! I just don't know why they try to fool us.. Maybe because they can right.
We don't want pretty, we want actors who can act.
So overall, it's okay for what it is. No need to watch it, just run it while you're doing other things.
ZeroZeroZero (2019)
No...
And again, typical imdb crowd loves another nonsense.
I have no idea were to begin so I'm just gonna tell you what to expect if you choose to watch this show.
Absolute fake male pride. A lot of 'God' talk... 3 to 4 minutes meaningless Dialoge followed by 15 minutes of walking or driving somewhere... Then a killing happens. (those parts are dome OK though)
And then the cycle repeats itself.
No Dialoge brings the 'Story' forward. You absolutely don't care about any character cause you don't know them. What happened to introducing characters? Look at shows from back then like buffy, charmed, desperate housewives, breaking bad, dexter, the big c etc etc. You knew the characters. You knew what they like, what they don't and so on. You felt with them if anything happened. But with nowadays characters in shows and movies, you don't care at all cause you don't actually know the characters.
Maybe less silent driving around or nonsensical god talk and more 'who am I looking at'
Griselda (2024)
Typical imdb crowd...
Well.. the show is getting highest ratings but I wonder why. A show based on true events doesn't make a good show. A pretty actress also doesn't...foreign languages alone won't do it either.
It's definitely not bad but it has some issues.
First of all, you're not watching but 'reading' the show cause 90 %is Spanish. Now I do understand that, it's the story of Spanish people but still.. It's a lot of Spanish.
Sofia seems to make a pretty good job. I like that she's not a simple minded bombshell for once BUT.. her looks getting in the way again... this time for the worse though. She face is so tugged, filled and pulled that you literally has zero facial expressions anymore. Her role as Griselda is filled with anger and desperation.. violence even. But you can't see anything cause her face just won't move.
I also don't really like how we're somehow forced to like Griselda. The way the show is build, it definitely wants to justify her terrible decisions and selfish ways. But nobody seems to care or see it cause well... she's pretty. Griselda is a high profile criminal BY CHOICE! Nobody actually forced her to do the things she does but she is literally doing everything to get big money. Even putting her 3 kids in danger. But beauty justifies everything according to imdb folks.
So yes, it does have it's moments, the cinematography is pretty, the music is good but it's very one sided and forces us to sympathize with criminals.. Not a fan.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Terrible, just awful
What the heck was that? I was waiting for the spook to begin but then the movie was over.
The desperate attempt to squeeze in a sentimental story completely fails. Not interesting at all cause somehow, Hollywood does not build up characters. In nowadays movies, you don't get to know the characters and that way, you really don't care about them at all.
As soon as you kinda figured out the story and what it is about, which would be around 15 minutes into the movie, you exactly know who's gonna die, who's learning his lessons and who's gonna survive.
I'm also not sure if it's hutcherson or his role but that guy has always the same expression. Either he's scared of literally everything or he's just showing a blank face the entire movie.
The movie itself is an absolute cliché flick. It's almost mathematical. Like 'we'll make a storm and show the window and right when the lightning hits, we're making a creepy shadow visible while blasting peoples ears with sound effects'.
And then we of course have the sexy, though but yet girl next door- ish love interest who will save everyone and help the looser protagonist to sort out his life.
It's soooooo generic, flat seriously boring. Typical Hollywood nonsense.. Style above everything. It's basically a bit more polished version of a goosebumps episode. Nobody above the mental capacity of a 15 yrs old would actually enjoy this.
