Available now on Amazon Prime
3 March 2020
You can watch this for free if you subscribe to Amazon Prime for shipping. It's Available now on Amazon Prime and I'm watching and enjoying it although I had never heard of this show or this man before. When I look him up I see he mostly worked behind the camera as a writer and this one man play is a rare performance of his. I see all the review here are from years ago and people talking of how difficult it is to view this show. So that motivated me to write this review so others will know that as of 2020 you can watch this online any time at Amazon.

Question about the garden & it's Interesting...never saw another doc on this subject
20 July 2018
I'm in the middle of watching it now.I have a Question about the garden but when I tried to ask this as a FAQ it did not have any option there to post a question. I'm trying to find out what was going on it the section when the errand runner man stops at the nice public garden where he stops at every day for years and some nasty woman in a big hat chases him out literally and very rudely. What is this garden and why would someone who is a docent there act that way to someone? It is very puzzling to us and is not explained at all in the film (as they just have the men speak for themselves with no narration).

As for the film as a whole... it's Interesting...never saw another doc on this subject and have read little on it. The men have many similarities to the street people homeless we see today in the big cities but these guys pay for a very basic roof over their head where they can drink or take drugs or deal with whatever mental issues they have. In homeless shelters you can't drink or take drugs and be right there doing so like you can at a flop like this. It's interesting to see the differences between living like this and being a street person (homeless) or being say in prison... as I've seen many documentaries on men in both of those situations. And seeing this makes one appreciate your own life more and your own living situation and life style.

Easily available to view online & worth watching

Prison life is a dreary subject and Russian prison life even more so, but The Mark of Cain is a film anyone interested in post-communist Russia should view. The documentary features many interviews with Russian prison inmates.

Director Alix Lambert examines the changes Russian prison tattoo art has undergone since the fall of communism and winds up vividly capturing both the changes in Russian prison life since the fall of communism, and the problems Russian society faces as it grapples with its communist past. I just watched it last night online at netlix and found it quite riveting. It is easily available to view online.

Haven't seen it in 34 years but still member Enzo Cerusic
29 May 2010
I remember waiting a very long time when I was a teen and mad about Enzo Cerusico to see this movie finally show up on TV. How we girls talked about it so excitedly before and then watched it together. I remember the plot was really quite silly and minor but Enzo was so cute we just loved watching him and didn't get much change to. In those days before even the Betamax you only got to see a movie the 1 or two times it ever showed on TV. I came by here tonight because I thought of Enzo a while ago and I haven't thought of him for many years. Sad to see he died pretty young at 51. He had a real perky charm and cute looks that I recall. http://static.episode39.it/artist/10328.jpg
