Higher Power (2018)
No way this deserves such a low rating
It builds slowly but when the action starts it's explosive and creative. 7/10
Dracula: The Dark Compass (2020)
Fantastic Ending!
What's with all the hate?! It's a fantastic dialog, levity, and a highly creative retelling. The ending is perfect. *** SPOILERS ***
It seems to me many didn't get the entire re-imagining of what a Vampire actually is. Is it "evil" which means there is "good" and therefore God, which is what Sister Agatha was struggling with and what led her down the path of investigating the source of the Vampire's weaknesses only to find they were more like phobias established over centuries as well as deep psychological conflict about the fear of death and the shame felt and their cowardice at the crucifixion.
So, if not a Heaven/Hell, and Supernatural Good/Evil what then is a Vampire? If all the myths surrounding them are wrong, and simply phobias of the Count then what is the source of their power? I think it was very directly hinted at when they were loading the Count's soil onto the ship and made it a point to spend a little time on mentioning that it was basically boxes of "mold", and who would want boxes of "mold"? Well, Sister Agatha had already alluded to a non-supernatural connection too wrt her investigations. However, unfortunately, they didn't strongly connect the dots and perhaps left that a bit too loosely defined, though I thought it was one of the best ideas of the show and a wonderfully creative re-imagining of the Vampire origin. And, a potential explanation of the Vampires abilities: strength, speed, immortality, nigh indestructibility, etc, which is not supernatural in origin, some kind of "parasitic" or "symbiotic" organism (the "mold" reference) which needs blood to feed on, etc, and I actually even thought they might connect the "mold" reference to the Vampire's aversion to sunlight but that turned out to simply be a phobia. Some opportunities lost with these ideas I suppose.
Overall, great series and a wonderfully clever retelling of Dracula. Watch it and give it a chance. It's much better than these troll reviews would have you believe.
Dracula (2020)
Had to balance the nonsense hyper-negative reviews...
This is a great show! Even if you're a purist, and yes, I've read Bram Stoker's Dracula several times when I was a child and was an instant lifelong fan. This series does indeed take creative liberties and gets loose even in the beginning wrt canon (*though I can't comment further or *spoilers*). Watch it. You'll like it. I loved it.
Watchmen: This Extraordinary Being (2019)
Brilliant.
Acting, directing, story, scenes... everything. Layered. Ingenious.
Watchmen: Martial Feats of Comanche Horsemanship (2019)
Deal with it.
It's an incredible story at the right time.

The Boys (2019)
Darkly refreshing...
Fantastic. Dark. Raw. Unflinching.
The "suits" are essentially a metaphor for "celebrities".
Kidding (2018)
Darkly brilliant
Stunning is another word that applies. This is a show that will take you deep inside yourself. Perhaps deeper than you feel comfortable with examining. Worth every minute.
The President Show (2017)
Hilarious
If you don't get satire, and you don't like comedy then watch something else. If you don't like Trump this is definitely the show for you.
Mute (2018)
DO NOT BELIEVE THE RATING of 5.4
This movie is fantastic on many levels. I can not believe it is only rated 5.4! I almost didn't watch it because of the IMDB rating and it's ridiculously low rated. I give it maybe even an 8.0 and I still have goosebumps after having just watched it. Wow. It was fantastic!
Welcome to Leith (2015)
Give it a chance and you won't regret it...
@davannacarter <-- posted a review that is incredulous.
The story about Leith ND is captivating, riveting, and true. It isn't trivialized by the number of people in a small town.
In fact, it is more impactful that the Neo-Nazis chose such a small town as a target. Predators prey on the weak.
Hitler and the 3rd Reich didn't start with an empire, they built one on fear.
This movie carefully exposes the narrative with each interview and each scene. Nothing appears to be 'over produced' or fake. You can feel the fear and terror the citizens felt toward the encroachment of fascism. They spoke up, fought back, and won.
Give this documentary a chance to show you a perspective on Neo-Fascism.
The Voices (2014)
Excellent DARK comedic moments...
...though only a few. Overall this film is MUCH more darkness than comedy.
I wasn't sure I would like it based on the description and the current IMDb rating (6.3), although I would give it much higher than that; at least a 7.5, though I could only enter a whole number, so I rounded up.
Ryan Reynolds really shines as Jerry. The change of perspective through Jerry's world-view when he is on medication and when not is haunting.
This film imparts a disturbing, depressing, graphic horror view into the mind of a psychopath. Of course, other films come to mind that impart a similar deep, dark view into the psychopathic mind. Yet, for the matter of my interpretation of this film, it reminds me more of Christian Bale in 'American Psycho' than Norman Bates in 'Psycho' original/remake.
The Secret (2006)
A Must See, before I've seen it
"The medium is the message", to heat a boiling pot.
Any movie that generates the controversy evident in the venomous diatribe of this forum is a MUST SEE.
