The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008)
Knocked me out of my seat!
Now I was really excited to see this on opening day, but many of my friends said that they would see it the next day. I was expecting for the film to be just like the first one, boring until the final battle in the end. This was one of the best movies I have ever seen in my entire life!
In this film, you can tell that the writers and directors took more time into this film and added twice as many effects as the first. The effects were sweet, the acting was good for the most part, and the screenplay was amazing.
This movie kept me off my seat from the very beginning. Every element in this movie was balanced to perfection. The film was a lot darker than I expected it to be, so I guess that's why I thought it was so good. The only thing that would have made this movie better is if they added some more blood. They could have easily made this movie look like the movie 300. Its a kid movie though, so I can understand why they would want to tone it down to a PG movie, but I was actually surprised that it was a PG movie by how dark it was, I mean I was a little freaked out at times. A little more blood would make this film a worthy adversary to the "Lord of the Rings."
After watching the movie, I read the first half of the book the day after, and yes, there had been some things added and taken out of the film, but I never really saw it as too much of a big deal. An example would be the scene with the werewolf and the hag. Everyone is complaining that Caspian was never temped, but if you read the chapter, the really was. The film just got deeper and more darker into the sequence, but I though that it was twice as better as if they just kept it the way the book was written (I love the book by the way).
The only bad thing that I have to say about the movie would be the thing that Susan and Caspian had, especially since Susan doesn't even come back to the last book (Peter, Edmund, and Lucy return one last time in "The Last Battle" but Susan doesn't because she had "grown up." It was pointless and it showed that they added it so that they could get the media on it, just like every other Hollywood film.
I would have to say that this film is about 10 times better than the first, and is an astounding sequel to the original film. This is the movie that any die hard Narnia fan has been waiting for!
Arthur et les Minimoys (2006)
Not the Best Family Adventure
I have seen a lot of children's movies out there that have used CGI animation and other techniques to make a film more attractive to an audience, of both kids and adults. When I was going to watch this movie with my little sister, I thought it would be an OK kids movie.
I was wrong
The main thing that bugged me about this movie was the acting and the actors that they choose. I mean you can have a musical guest star in a film every once in a while, but nearly every main character in the movie was a stinking movie artist. You had Madonna, Snoop Dogg, and David Bowie, and other voices including Jimmy Fallon and Robert De Niro. Now when you put all of these actors together, you get a bad cast. There is nothing new in this film, just a bunch of the same actors and artist that you have know for around 20 years. You can tell that the people who made this movie spent all their money on acting jobs, which sucked. They could have actually have searched through the archive and grab someone who was a little better at the job, actually take some times to take a look at the newbies or even those that have been around for a while, but have not been in a big roll on a Motion Picture. The only good actor in this movie i though was David Bowie.
The story line was OK, but there were times where I was confused on what the heck was going on. The film really had a weird ending as well. The animation was good, but half the time I was freaked out by how the Minimoys looked from start to finish. Mix Lord of the Rings with Cabbage Patch kids and it still wouldn't be as bad as this.
I think that they could have made this film so much better. It looks like they ran out of money as soon as they started production on this cursed film. Don't waste your time, its not good as all! Effects were good, and animation was great, but don't let that deceive you. Its the story that really matters, and trust me, these people need to go back to English class.
Kingdom Hearts II (2005)
Great Sequel
The first time i had seen any of the kingdom heart games was at my friends house. When I first saw this I thought this was the stupid game ever made because it was a Disney game (it was kingdom hearts 1). For some reason though, when the second one came out, i wanted to buy it.
This was and will be the funnest game I have ever played! A great comeback from the first one. After I beat this game i bought the first one, which was OK. I think that is was a bad idea because i lost interest in beating it even when i was on the final boss. I was especially mad when the first world was Alice in Wonderland. It seemed more based on the rated G Disney movies. Definitely not enough final fantasy in it. On the second one though, none of the worlds seemed bad at all, especially when you get to fight with Jack Sparrow!
I also though the first one was way too hard. Even on normal mode with health all the way up, three hits and your dead. The first time i played it i started on hard (since the first time i beat the second one was on normal). I could not even get passed traverse town (the town you go to before your adventure even begins!) I am playing on proud mode on the second one and it is still challenging but not stressfully hard.
Here are my status on the game:
Grahpics: 8 Humor: 4 Gameplay: 10 Plot: 7 Worlds: 8
Everyone i told about this game thought it would be a cheesy and child like Disney rip off! Its not! My friend borrowed the game and the first time he played he got into 16 hours into the game without stopping! I have to still convince my other friend though. Do not be fooled by the media. This is by far one of the best games Square-Enix has developed!
Mild Spoiler: The final boss fights with light sabers!
Hot Rod (2007)
Great Comedy
Me and my friend went to see this movie, but before I did I went on this site to see if people liked it. Most of the comments I saw were poor and I told my friend this, but he said that people do that all the time even though its a good movie. So we went anyway.
I thought that the movie was slow at for the first 2/3rds of the movie, but towards the end we started to laugh out loud! Holy Crap this was a great movie! Recommended for everyone. It also increases the audience because their is barley any sexual jokes, comments, or content like most other comedies.
Take a chance and go to this movie!
