The Sound of Music Live! (2013)
terrible!
Awful. The acting was bad... since when is an African American nun in a convent in pre-nazi austria? Apparently everyone was American... the songs were sung at the wrong times and all in all it was a horrible excuse for an otherwise top rated movie.I watched the og 19602 version many many times over. I think that the cast of this one was poorly choice, the costumes and the set were cruddy. The acting was sub par. The talent was short, the story was incorrect, and all in all it was a pretty dang terrible version. It was awful. really awful. When I watched this I suddenly felt ill. There are a million more movies I watched this season, and all in all I feel the time watching this movie was most likey the biggest waste of time ever.
ER (1994)
Good god can it get any more BORING.
Is it just me, or the last few seasons of E.R. haven't even been worth watching.
Tragedy after tragedy, plot twist after plot twist. These are the most ill-lucked people in society.
OK, so...
Dr. Green has cancer, dies. O.K., I can run with that. Perfectly logical. Dr. Romano has his arm cut off at the elbow by a tail rotor. O.K., not likely, but if he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time...then maybe. But come on, then to get killed by the same chopped falling in a bloody fire on top of his head? Get real.
Carter loses his baby, and his woman. Yawn. Hasn't the Carter family seen enough in the way of loss and rich people dilemmas?
I am so sick of the "strong females" Abby doesn't want to marry Luka. Sam didn't want to marry Luka. Sam and her son. Again, and again, and again. Now for the love of god her crazy ex-husband kidnapped him and her both at gunpoint and they are driving somewhere along the Chicago interstate. Abby might lose her baby. Dr. Corday almost lost her baby. Dr. Weaver was in limbo with her son, after miscarrying. Dr. Benton had custody trouble. Dr. Lewis lost her niece. Can't these people hold on to their children?
At least they did away with Dr. Lewis' sister. Man that chick fell off Ugly Mountian and hit every damn boulder on the way down.
If anyone agrees...write to me to tell me so, then write to NBC to take this long-dead show off the air.
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997)
Campy.
Allright, so this movie wasn't anywhere near as good as the original, but still, you have to give credit where credit is due.
This sequal followed the video game much more accuratly than the original, and albeit the fighting scenes were very cheesy, the overall action on this was far greater than the first one, which was mostly about who was doing what to who and who was who and so on and on...
A few unneeded things, though, maybe spoilers, but what are you going to do, huh?
1: The beginning fight scene where Rayden and Shao Kahn use the uneeded special moves to just sort of throw each other around and make themselves look like big, bad men.
2: Shao Kahn is played by Brian Thompson, who is quite possible the worlds worst actor. Everything that he has been in, has absolutly sucked, and this movie lost about 5 starts just simply having him play one of the lead roles. If your going to have someone who sucks play Shao Kahn, at least hire Dolf Lundgren, people have HEARD of him.
3: Yes, Jax Briggs is supposed to be the black guy, but DAMN did he have to act so sterotypical?
This movie is mostly funny, watch it to laugh, enjoy the action, but please, if your looking for cinematic royalty, rent Casablanca. The best part is when the building fell down.
The Clan of the Cave Bear (1986)
Not that bad...
Everyone who seems to have commented here, did so in the negative form. True, it was a very rudimentary movie, with many no name actors, but in my unprofessional opinion, still did a damn good job...
Daryl Hannah aside, look for sneak appearences by Nicole Eggart, later of Baywatch fame, and a young James Remar, made to look like an elderly disabled man, better known for his role as Rayden in Mortal Kombat 2.
The score is wonderful, haunting and scene appropriate, beautiful filming location in Canada.
I still can't understand how they recieved word that the clans were gathering, what did some random cro-mag wander the entire continent looking for people to invite to the shindig?? LOL...and, alas the movie starts too quickly, with the totally unbelievable death of Aylas mother, who can totally avoid the huge hole in the ground...and just dives in headfirst..accident my ass...and what is Brouds PROBLEM? Spoiled little b*****d who likes to push down old guys and a very violent way of pulling the old little boy likes girl so he hits her on the playground way...a near hit, and sometimes miss, but overall a good movie, worth watching late at night with the lights off...
7 out of 10
Benedict Arnold: A Question of Honor (2003)
Boy did this stink
This movie was horrifc, you couldn't possibly have gone more inaccurate when telling a true life story.
Nothing at all in the movie was what actually happend during that famous act of treason, and of course they had to throw some stupid love story into it...not once in the history books does it mention any woman or child of Arnolds having anything to do with his decision to betray his country...anyone who sees this movie will automatically lose 15 points on thier IQ.
Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves! (1997)
Oh Lord, did this suck.
Possible Spolier
This is terrible. 110%. Everything from the horrific computer aided special effects, that were used on stupid, poinless things.. ( I.E. the station wagon driving down the street ) to the terrible acting by uneducated child performers ( I.E. the scene where " Jenny " drops a minute amount of Onion Dip on the table and she is told she is making a mess, to which she replies " I can't help it this stuff is good, what's in it?" [ it's onion dip what do you think is in it idiot ])and the cliches everwhere you look ( I.E. parents assumed gone, party with girlfriends gets out of control by jerky pre-adolescent uninvited boys trashing the house ). If you have this video, you should use it as kindling in your fireplace. Rick Moranis never was the best actor, but even HE could do something better than this monstrosity. Yuck...a -10 out of 10.
Atomic Twister (2002)
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible
This has to be the worst made for TV movie I've seen in years. ( SPOILER ALERT )
Beginning with the ripped straight from " Twister " beginning, with MPG's mother being sucked up ( as opposed to Helen Hunts father ) ....right down to the end sequence where the kid runs to his mom at the end of the movie with the cheesy " Oh honey I love you so much " scene....
The movie is so predicatable from minute one....IE...kid at window telling nochalant babysitter it looks like a tornado..babysitter sits on couch watching TV...two seconds later a tornado warning flashes onscreen...
Dumb shift supervisor lady leaves radio by OPEN door..tornado blows it out, then she comes back five minutes later " OMG where is the radio "
Two plant tecs are trying to tell shift supervisor that this system is malfunctioning, that this will happen because of it....this could be dangerous...and all she keeps saying is " Oh I don't want to hear about that right now, this switch is blinking....."
They are standing in the reactor emergency valve shut off room, and they are all like " Oh we have less that 30 seconds to get to the switch to shut the reactor down "....then they stand there and debate over who is going to go trudging through the contaminated water to shut it down, and then the guy who does go takes his sweet time, like two steps every 15 seconds..the fidgits with the switches, taking his sweet time...meanwhile 30 seconds happend like 15 min ago...
Also...just figures, MPG gets in a fight, breaks up with stupid girlfriend, dumb idiot rolls her junk camaro down a hill, MPG just HAPPENS to be driving by, gets out to help her, they are magically in love all over again...meanwhile tornado is like 2 feet from them and they are all OK....
Guy in radioactive water filled emergency shut off room disappears until the end of the movie..two plainsclothes paramedics are helping him out...meanwhile if he was really exposed to that radiation, they would be in protective gear, he would be quarentined, not able to just walk to the ambulance....
Also...nuke plants are SO made to be protected againts this kind of thing..making this whole movie impossible...and last but not least...
Firefighters in Uranium Storage pool room, without protective gear...with exposed fuel rods 5 inches below water....WOULD NOT HAPPEN...they would be in a room..without windows 1st off, secondly, the heat from a uranium rod would cause water brought in from fire hoses to evaporate immediatly....
STUNK...STUNK...STUNK....NEVER watch this movie..this is as horrible as it gets.
Contact (1997)
One of the best I've seen....
I never really go for popular movies , I've always been a fan of indie releases and " made for TV " , but I happend to catch this movie on a cable showing of it , and have never been that impressed by any other , and I was by this tonight . I think the whole movie, from opening sequence ( where some of the photograps used are actual deep space objects, I.E. the Magellic Cloud )was beautifully shot and wonderfully scripted. The cinematography was excellent, as was the plot, dialogs, and Jodie Foster played the part perfect. Tom Skerrit just takes commands in wahtever role he takes on. Matthew McConagheys performance even wasn't that bad, surprisingly.
Even the role of the crazy preacher, who played Muldoon in that movie " Stoned Age " was convincing as a terrorist who is trying to protect the world of all things " ungodly ". The scenes when Jodie Foster travles throught the worm holes ( which, thier existance was even acknowledged by Steven Hawking himself ) , and then she meets her father on that beautiful celstial beach , was so touching it made me actually tear up! And the best part was on the end , where Angela Bassett notes that she may have only lost contact with the mission control for 1/2 a secoond, yet the data recorded 18 hours. A wonderful movie, I recommend anyone and everyone should own this .
