El club de los lectores criminales (2023)
Enjoyable but too many plot holes
When I first saw this was released on Netflix, I said:"Finally a good horror/splatter movie on this joke of a platform!" Was I right? Ehhhh kind of. The movie was enjoyable for those who are into splatter movies: bloody scenes, the tension, the suspense of not knowing who the clown killer was. The main problem is that the characters didn't have a storyline, they were stereotyped adolescents whose story, past or character was never mentioned. Many errors and plot holes: the second killer, declared that Virginia was just a fictional name and that her name was Alicia. But how could that be possibly be real since she was friends with the other characters? And how is this possible since the protagonist asked Virginia's mom if she slept in her house? I'm still wondering how 2 of the characters died since they gave no explanation why or how they were killed. And what happened at the end? Was it just a vivid dream or what?
Anyhow, the actors were good but the whole plot was average, but still a bit enjoyable. Would I watch it again? Probably not.
Strappare lungo i bordi (2021)
From laughing with tears to crying with tears in a few seconds
I might be biased cause I am Italian and I live in Rome, so I can relate to Zerocalcare and his productions more than anyone else, but this series is amazing. First of all, he tells personal events that happened in his life in a little area of Rome, without mentioning anyone's name (using pseudonyms), in the funniest but introspective way that your mood is gonna change from having the best time of your life to making you question your whole existence in a few lines. What I really liked is that he didn't stereotype any of the characters. Even the most useless characters were useful in telling the story anyhow. I think that if you watched this in English, you should definitely rewatch it in Italian with English subtitles, cause listening to Zero speaking Italian with his very strong Roman accent, makes it way way better.
And never forget to say "annamose a pija er gelato" when life is harsh!
Frenzy (2018)
Painful to watch
This was an absolute mess. If you have a budget of 20$ to make a movie, pls don't even consider the idea of making a shark movies or it'll be awful. The only acceptable thing of this film is the character's backstory, otherwise it is definitely not worth watching. The sharks looked so unnatural, almost plastified, the blood was so badly edited I started laughing. The actors were mid, the plot was messy, and everytime a character turned out to be alive, they were killed a few scenes later (this scheme made the whole movie very predictable in my opinion). The ending was hilariously bad. She started laughing in the middle of nowhere after her sister, her boyfriend and all of her friends were killed. Save your time and watch something else instead!
