Glamorous (2023)
It's like Joe Jonas in Drag .... cute, but hollow
So the lead looks like Joe Jonas in drag or if he was beginning to transition, cute, but unrealistic.
Most of the acting and storyline was okay, but 'his' femminess on moment and almost normal boy the next was a problem for me. Kim Catrelll was awesome, as was the hunky male leafs, especially the kid that play Kim's Son.
Being gay, can I simply state the fact that guys are becoming too swoll and overly huge for their cute collegiate young thin faces...it's just too Popeye for me and mine...we are all making fun of those swoll boiz. Can you imagine if swollness happened to guys faces and heads like it does their bodies, we would consider them grossly deformed and ape'ish....unfortunately, we did that millions of years ago....let's STOP moving backward. As to the series, all the supporting cast were great and I continue to watch only based upon their storylines.
Close (2022)
Wow! Heartfelt and brutally honest tale for everyone.
Ever since this one Best International Picture I have been waiting and wanting to see this film.
Boycrushes and best friend crushes (totally innocent and non sexual) occur all the time growing up. The fact that you can give yourself completely and without fault to another, no matter your age, is what I took away from this beautiful story. I had a best boy friend and we did everything together. We loved and adored each other with a fever and depth that not even my modern day, grown-up relationships have. This is a beautiful story about how much we can hurt and be hurt by those we love and hold deer. Leo's supposed betrayal of REMI was well told. The acting is superbly done. Kudos to these wonderful young actors who so easily told this story. We are all better people for watching this touching movie.
Beef (2023)
WOW, simple actions blow up to intensity!
Hail Alli and Steven for this awesome series! I couldn't say it any better that this seriez made me laugh so hard and other times made me want to cry! The acting is wonderful, has a great cast & the humor is actually very FUNNY! The point of the show is very intense & unique & it manages to portray a perfect balance of funny moments but also sad & serious! Entertaining from the first episode till the last, This show is such a breath of fresh air, bc it covers topics that aren't usually in movies & shows and they find ways to make you go thru every emotion while watching it. & I've never seen another one like it! This show has great comedy in it but it also gets dark and serious and talks about real life issues that people face . I liked the ground metaphor that A24 used to get the point across to the audience, & how it forshown what the deeper meaning was all about and what it stood for, so intense! In the end everything had a purpose and reason so it all made alot of sense & everything tied together! The drama was so suspenseful with so many twists and turns that you kept wanting to watch more! For once, I finally found a show that actually had such a different storyline that was actually meaningful and made me step back and think about things and how we treat one another! The characters kept finding ways over & over again to pull at my heart strings & managed to keep me emotionaly involved in what would happen to them next. The point & premise that the show revolved around was relatable & intense bc many of us can relate to how they feel (especially Steven yeun's character) so I loved the fact that The point of the show is alot deeper than I thought it would be & I appreciated that! I loved how they showed the reality of each characters lives from different perspectives, & how each of them felt the same way even coming from completely different backgrounds.
The writing and delivery are superb.
On a Wing and a Prayer (2023)
Please Kill me... worst over dramatic dribble 2023 movie yet!
Listen, this is the worst writing I have ever seen.
The poor actors did their best, I guess. This screenplay made a 30 minute ordeal (the actual story) into 103 minutes I literally died laughing throughout.
Yes, I'm a Pilot and non-pilots can forgive total fabrication and utterly terrible inaccuracies of this 'feel good' and 'Jesus take the wheel' mentality of this horrific waste of time, energy and the precious bandwidth that was used to stream this film. I have seen Adult films with much better plots and writing. If you are a Pilot or even Flight Sim lover, you are going to hate this flick. Also, on a $69 Introductory Flight (in the Cessna) the instructor would NEVER allow you to attempt an actual take off or landing. SO MJCH inaccurate drama was tossed in to feed our hopeful little feeble minds, including that, the doom storm, the Chocolate bar Eppy pen emergency...blah blah. From the controllers who were in real life heros, to these fake actor controllers and terrible lines making them all out to be toral morons, this film reeked!
Next Exit (2022)
LOVE the idea & story, but 10 minutes in, the crappy Hitchcock type music BLOWS!
Tick tock... watch out behind the dark closet door little boy. The boogie DAD is gonna get you.
The silly Hitchcock'ian music and story telling is blowing this film. Arrrrgh! Can't believe the writer put up with this terrible soundtrack and boo ideology. I like the actors THAT'S WHY I'm even watching this.
Tick Tick dong, Tick Tick toe (insert loud over dramatic music here) and you are probably just as triggered as the rest of us are. Spoiler, let's all go kill ourselves now that life is too tough, after all we can still be a ghost with physical touching abilities to interact with living family numbers in the here and now...bleh.
We Have a Ghost (2023)
OMG, what a great modern tale of a heart warming Ghost Story.
Oh my heck, this had me interested the second I watched the trailer and saw all the great actors, including David Harbour, who plays a beautiful soul and is a ghost. Spoiler, the last 15 minutes had me bawling and grab hankies for the ending.
Of course the sweet and innocent youngest boy Kevin comes in contact with the ghost first and immediately cracked me up!
So the discovery that their house is haunted by a real ghost named Ernest makes Kevin's family a social media sensation. But when Kevin and Ernest get to the bottom of the mystery of Ernest's past, they become targets of the CIA, an agent played by Tig Notaro.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Patrick is the weak part of Season 3... just mumbles too much
I love the series, but damn Patrick's performance lacks as does his dead and dying weak 82 year old voice. I'm so glad he's done and over. His best years were behind him a years ago..just saying!!
The storyline is great but seriously, let's all SELL OUT by hiring the cast if CACCOON to play the leads. Old and tired is the name of the game here, which is so unfortunate. Thankyou Patrick for some great years, but it's time to retire your mumble unit once and for all. Even Rafey is too old and mumble. Bring back Elnoor and Rios.....time travel could bring them back. I still dig Jerry Ryan..but blah to the rest ST sell outs!
Supernova (2020)
Tucci and Firth arecso Incredibly Warm and Loving
I've been with my partner for 26 years and we are in a similar boat, just different situation and disease. Stupid Stanley and his choices are exactly what I'm going through now. I have Parkinson's and other issues where I don't want to be a burden. I totally get and support this story.
What an insidious disease dementia is...I lost a close family member to dementia and I agree, you would only want to be remembered 'from before' and not when they were sick and a burden. I only hope and pray that there will soon be a cure for dementia and alzhiemers, because we ate loosing loved ones too early!
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
JUST WOW! What an Episode!
Wow,
I literally had zero idea that this tv series was adapted from a game, however, all three episodes have been super interesting, with really great characters.
Episodes three completely blew me away and yes, even this big old straight Sheriffs Deputy bawled. Wait to go there you terribly awesome Writers and Creators!!! Bill and Frank's relationship was a 'perfect telling' of humans tossed into a post apolitical Era, where these two guys find themselves stuck in. By forces out of their control, these two men find friendship, companionship and an undying love, albeit in the worst of times. I loved TLOU Episode 3.
