Back to Black (2024)
Disrespectful to her and the audience
The actress did a pretty a pretty good job mimicking Amy's manners. You're never going to be the exact same, but it seemed like she cared and did her research.
The rest of the movie however, feels like a propaganda movie, by Amy's father, who was very much involved in the writing of the movie.
In the movie, he is this perfect father figure throughout her whole life.
If you've seen the documentary, you'll know how exploitative that man was. Whereas in this movie, he is this one truly loving guy. The whole movie has his and Amy's ex husband's influence over it. It got so bad that some people audibly laughed at some of the righteous moments these characters displayed.
The actress did a good job with what she got, but the script is complete middle finger to Amy's legacy.
Langs de nieuwe zijderoute (2023)
Eye opening
Journalism at it's best. They shed light on suppressed and forgotten communities, walking a very thin line between showing as much as possible and not getting killed by the local governments. Showing the intimidation those governments use directly to them and the interviewees.
Every episode becomes very personal, following people who have gone and are going through unthinkable circumstances. As someone living in a well off, western country, most people would have no idea how unjust the world can be.
So if you're looking for interesting journalism on social and political issues, definately worth the watch.
