Ferrari (2023)
The movie is like the F1 teams current state
I am a huge Ferrari fan. Been so since the famous 1990's.
I love the whole team and their history and was the reason why I was waiting for this movie.
But after watching it I wondered what was the point. What were they trying to show. So many angles of history portrayed and in the end it didn't even turn out to be a proper documentary.
The story of the family and their struggles with personal loss, professional loss is portrayed but valid focus on the important events behind that is skimmed over.
Watched the movie to know more about the family and this company's heritage. But finished it with regret.
Bawaal (2023)
Bawaal - life's true image
Not going to put in any spoilers because this move is piece is clear.
Let's start with the story. The story is slightly slow in bits. I feel a little too much time was spent building up Varun's character and as a result just in the midst when the story takes a turn to see him improve his relationship with his wife. It kind of falls flat.
I was left wondering after his failed France outing, where did he suddenly change? Did I miss a few minutes and actually rewound to find that Nopes the movie changed gears midway.
But the story makes sense. The relationship and the strains between husband and wife are well captured and kept realistic.
Varuns acting is as usual awesome. Janvi was her awesome self. While she does look gorgeous the beauty of this movie is there was no extra make up to make her look out of the way beautiful. Her good looks were used well and they let her acting shine.
Truly a good movie to sit down on a lovely cool evening to pass the time and watch and go on a world war 2 tour of Europe.
Beast (2022)
A thrilling experience of the night of the jungle
Do we remember the Michael Douglas and Van Kilmer starter "The Ghost and the Darkness".
That movie sent chills down my spine.
Well "Beast" does exactly the same.
A simple story about a Dad and his 2 daughters, return back to the village of their mom.
The story is well written and is portrayed well to touch upon the topics of how indeed animals can foster a relationship with humans who have been kind to them and how also due to greed and lack of governance the evil of poaching is breaking this beautiful bond between nature and humans.
The movie captures every intricate detail of what it intends to portray. The story is quite simple. Lion goes rogue and humans are at the wrong place at the
wrong time.
Resilience needs to prevail. For this simple nature I say watch it. The lions sudden attacks and the beast itself sends shivers through one and it's a story that can be watched over a beautiful evening of wine and dine.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Sequel that was perfect
What a movie.
A sequel that lived up to its billing. Better than the first and one that brought closure to this character of Maverick.
I love the way the story was played out. There were a few over the top angles but hey it's a movie it's supposed to blend a little bit of fantasy with reality.
I waited a whole year to watch this movie since I could not attend it in the theatre. And I must tell u that it was indeed worth the wait.
Every characters story was introduced and context given, however I was left searching a bit for "who is Penny" that was the only area where this film faltered to explain. But hey you are so wound up in the story, the wonderful camera work to capture the stunts and flight movements, this minor blip is one I will forgive.
Double XL (2022)
A promising concept but failed to deliver
I watched this movie to see how they would deal with this touchy concept of weight, size and May be even body shaming.
Instead what I got was a movie that was heavy laden with dialogues. Dear writers this is a movie not a debate or documentary on this well thought of subject.
The story started off promising but after the first 20 minutes it loses the plot. And. Huma Qureshis story is almost forgotten. And the whole story is around fashion.
This is where I felt the movie lost it's relevance. Just because the title has an element of fashion doesn't mean that they make the whole movie about it inspite of having another angle that there was opportunity to run in parallel.
To end it dear writers it's not "one size fits all" it should have been "fit for all".
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
A surprisingly dull short filler
This movie was labelled on HotStar as the greatest Thor movie so far!!! Really? Somebody had to grease palms there.
Come on guys this is Thor the regal and royal superhero. But in this movie everything is a joke.
Don't get me wrong the humour is what made me push this to a 4 rating. But I just felt that this movie is like a filler towards something.
The return of love interest Jane. Whom I had no clue why she broke up with him. Christian Bale hung up his Batman shoes for this?
In fact Bale's character was the only thing that added a level of seriousness that is needed in a superhero movie.
Govinda Naam Mera (2022)
A tale that takes you on a journey of peaks and troughs of interest
First of all let's get the story out of the way. The story is awesome. It could have been portrayed in a more organised fashion because the current flow of this in this movie kinda made me lose interest in between.
But in the end all's well that ends well.
The acting was superb. Renuka took the cake with her character. However surprise surprise Vicky for me showcased his true class.
From his brilliant on screen chemistry with both the actresses to his dance moves and also his varying emotions. A job well done.
Kiara for me sizzled in the item song however her role in this was limited but in that she showed her brilliance.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Definitely not worth the 13 year wait
13 years and in the end all we got was a national geographic lesson?
Poorly told story. The writers seemed to have forgotten the plot behind the reincarnation of the already vanquished general. The explanation of their existence to defeat Jake Sully makes no sense.
195 minutes of boredom. The animals carried this movie more than the characters. Why did the generals son suddenly start showing the general the way of the avatar. Why would they go through all that trouble to become avatars if you were not going to use it to your advantage.
So many unanswered questions for the 3rd part? No thank u.
