Knocked Up (2007)

Knocked Down
27 December 2007
To begin, this movie is not extremely funny. It has it's clever moments, but all in all it is nothing special. The storyline is slightly boring, and gets worse as the movie progresses. The worst thing about Knocked Up is that it is very long, too long, to be a good comedy. It is about 2 hours and roughly 10 minutes of, well, honestly, nothing special. In my opinion, a good thriller/horror/action movie can easily be 2 hours or more and it is still great. Hey, even a good comedy can pull off two hours. But this movie cannot. Had it not been so long and drug out, say 1 hour and 30 minutes, it could possibly earn 5 stars out of 10 from me. If you watch this movie and don't find yourself thinking 'will this ever end?', consider yourself lucky. Therefore, don't rent this movie. It's not worth it, there are many much better movies out there. If your going to watch Knocked Up, then don't start the movie thinking it's going to be great. In the end, it's just a middle of the pack, slow moving comedy that really can't make you laugh.

Wasn't that bad...
16 August 2007
You hear lots of comments on how absolutely horrible this movie was. While I agree that this movie was not as good as The Hills Have Eyes (2005), this movie isn't horrible. There are some decent jump scenes, probably around 5. There is also lots of gore, and it's not the pointless gore that you see in some movies, it has a point to the mutants- its their food. But the story line is average at best, it needs more character development. The acting is not noticeably good or bad. The title still fits, the hills do have eyes, but its not as creepy.

This movie is entertaining. Although some parts are illogical and drawn out, the majority of this movie is okay. The story line in THHE2 is not as logical as it is in THHE 2005. In the 2005 remake of THHE, you get the sense of 'This could happen in real life (well sort of anyway)' which makes it all the more creepy and scary. Even without the jump scenes, it would have been creepy. Another thing that helps the first one is that you don't get to see the mutants until 45 minutes into the movie, which makes you wonder, but when you do see them you are (happily) scared. But in the 2nd the mutants are in your face from the very beginning, and it is too difficult to imagine what happens as real, therefore you aren't particularly scared.

All in all, this movie is not bad. It's not anything special in my opinion, but I believe it is worth watching. It deserves about a 6 or 7 out of ten.

Therefore I would say, 7/10.

Boredom
14 July 2007
Okay. this movie was supposed to be good, from all the stuff I heard here and there. This site had it as a 6.0 out of 10. I like most movies, horror, comedy, thriller, action, and animated. This movie is horrible, it doesn't fit into a category, is nothing but a waste of film. This movie looks like its some homemade movie. It is pointless. 2 people stranded out in the ocean. No plot. While watching this movie you may think something is going to happen. Nothing happens. Its 1 hour and 20 minutes of absolutely nothing. Sharks and these 2 people in the ocean. that is it. Boring. The couple talks every now and then. The acting is crap. The beginning is crap, they get on a boat and go scuba diving, they get left in the ocean because of a miscount. From here they drift, with sharks surrounding them. I watched the first 30 minutes expecting something to happen, when nothing at all happened, I then fast-forwarded the movie in 2x or 4x speed and still nothing happened in the time that it took to be over. This is seriously 1 hr and 20 min of nothing. nothing.

This movie doesn't even deserve to be watched. Don't rent this movie and if you did already your better off not watching it unless you are looking for a way to fall asleep out of boredom.

If you like horror movies, don't be scared to watch The Hills Have Eyes...
13 July 2007
I loved this movie. I have seen lots of horror movies, this was one of the best, if not the best. It is only rated in the 6.4-6.8 star range on this site, considering that it varies with votes, but to me this movie should have around 8-8.5 stars on this site. I give it 10 star rating for a horror movie, and a 9.5 star rating as just a movie. The reason I think it has been rated lower than I expected is because of a few things: gore, blood, and rape. Okay, those aren't reasons to rate a movie badly. This movie is rated R! The R rating allows those things. Its a horror movie, and lets be real, what horror movie doesn't have blood? Okay the rape scene isn't 'ethical' but it sure does add to the horror of this movie. So those things make the movie more of a horror to me, and are not reasons that I wouldn't like this movie. I have seen the SAW movies 1-3 and this movie is quite a bit better. A lot more creepy, has a better story line, better jumps, better acting, better emotions. To the point; this movie is better than all of those movies, head and shoulders.

I rented this movie expecting an average thriller and horror movie. It was way better than I expected it to be. It has a 'this could happen in real life' sense to it. Sure, mutant cannibals are very uncommon to say the least, but the pictures at the beginning of this movie so everyone watching it that the nuclear testings DID deform things. Therefore, its possible that mutants could have formed somehow. Its not logical but its possible. The acting was great in this movie overall. Not a lot of big names but still the acting is way better than average. You will most likely be scared and grossed out at various points in this movie, which is how a horror movie is supposed to be. I'll admit I needed about 30 minutes before I could stop thinking about this movie and finally fall asleep. This movie is good, even great. Don't let a little extra gore or one attempted rape scene ruin this movie for you.

Final comments. One of my favorite movies, and I'm not just saying that for this review, this is one of my favorite movies that I have seen. I plan on buying this movie, to add it to my collection of only about 15 movies. You will most likely be thinking of this movie next time you go to a desert. The Hills Have Eyes truly is creepy and yes, gory at times. This movie will make you wonder and make you jump. You will want to kill these mutants yourself at the end of this movie. After all, it is a horror movie.
