It is what it is.

It's exactly what it's suppose to be. It's corny in a lot of ways, with some subpar special effects but it's thrilling and it's undoubtedly entertaining. This movie is a simple story and it was executed in a thrilling way- the acting is good for WHAT the movie is. The special effects are good for WHAT the movie is. This was never meant to be a movie with a 20 million dollar budget, it was meant to be a sequel to the first equally corny, and equally simple storyline that was 47 Meters Down (the original). The acting was well done in portraying true terror in the moments it was needed. The only shortcoming I truly saw was the writing. I found there were too many moments that were suppose to have you on the edge of your seat- it became incredibly predictable after about 20 minutes of the in-water survival scenes. What I would've liked to see here is more story, and more build-up. More tension rather than climax climax climax from the writers. Again, I think it was good for what it is. It's a thrilling, and frankly corny ocean thriller. Though entertaining, I feel that there was some untapped potential in the actors, the choice of special effects and story. I probably would not watch the next movie if there was another one- but I don't regret watching this one as it was undoubtedly fun to watch despite its short-comings.
