Griselda (2024)
Good but too sympathetic and loose with facts
I liked it overall. Lots of subtitles which some people didn't like but it gave an authenticity to the series so I did like that. Griselda was made into a sympathetic character screwed by men for the majority of the shows, but she was an evil person. I could deal with the dramatization of other aspects, but that kept the rating a little lower for me. Also, the ending was a little odd. I think that could have been changed. There was some violence shown, but it wasn't overdone like an action movie. I also liked that aspect of the film. Some of the violence actually caught you off guard in some parts. Overall, good, especially by Netflix standards but some changes for accuracy would have been nice.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies (2022)
First review, got some perspective we didn't get before
I have to conclude this was definitely not first degree murder. She was found not guilty of aggravated child abuse, which also seemed to be the correct decision. I do think she was ultimately negligent falling asleep and her child dying while she slept on the job so to speak. This is the most important part of the documentary. The prosecution over charged mainly because of the media mob wanted her to be burned at the stake. She seemed like a mother with good intentions that was a liar/sociopath who was also irresponsible. I do think both things can be true.
As best I could piece together, an accident definitely happened while she slept and her dad was at home. She claims it couldn't have been the pool, but said in the documentary she never went near the pool when they were looking for kaylee. So that's possible, but also possible it was something else. She contradicts herself many times. It's impossible to believe her 100 percent on anything. My guess is that dad told her she would be in trouble when kaylee died, he buried her like he did with the pets and told her to wait until he could concoct some kind of story. Things fell apart and spiraled out of control. She could have been acting crazy out of grief and stress. She knew when she saw her soaking wet she was dead at that time. No way do I buy for a second that she thought she was ok for 31 days without her.
Dad is a shady character himself. Mom and him both seem like opportunists. He may have abused Casey, maybe not. She lied so much it was hard to keep up. It was definitely a screwed up family.
I think the lawyers thought she was being railroaded unfairly and basically knew her life was ruined. The fact they genuinely cared about her still is a big plus in her column.
She is still lying and in denial about everything, but that doesn't mean she intentionally killed her either.
