Party Monster (2003)
7/10
surprisingly a fun and excited film- couldn't keep my eyes off the screen
29 December 2008
I heard of this movie right when it came out but i was too young to watch it. Last night i couldn't fall asleep and i decided that i would watch it since i rented it at Hollywood video. i really liked it! i thought it was smart, witty and over-dramatic (in a good way though haha). Seth Green was fabulous as James st. James , an over the top rich socialite that was paid and noticed in new york for dressing outrageous and partying night after night at chic nightclubs. Macauly Culkin was also wonderful as the infamous Michael Alig who was a club kid "created" by James and grew the club kid scene to become huge in New York and across the united states in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Culkin's acting in this film i thought was horriblly overdone but he did show the way Michael tried to put on this mask to hide his sadness. MY personal opinion was that the supporting cast were stellar and overshadowed the main actors. Chloe Sevigny who i love and think is an amazing actress ecpecially in indie films did awesome as the character of gitsie. she showed the thrive that people have to join this fabulous group of cub kids and also showed the extreme love that gitsie had for michael. surprisingly my favorite in this film as marilyn manson. when i first watched it i had no clue he was in it until i saw the credits and i think i laughed at all of his scenes (which weren't a lot). marilyn played Christina superstar and even thought i thought that they didn't show the disturbing side of Christina which is that she/he supposedly molested children and asked for her suicide to be taped i thought that marilyn did capture the funny/made fun of Christina that really did exist in the club kid scene in the beginning. i would deff suggest this film for anyone looking for a fun trippy ride.

The Ruins (2008)

The Ruins
6 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I went to go see The Ruins last night with a group of friends. IT honestly was one of the few really good all American horror films i have seen in a long time. I was almost opposed to seeing the movie after i saw the TERRIBLE Shutter a week earlier but i was glad i saw it. The scenes were intense, grueling and eye catching. You can't keep your eyes off the screen. Like when Stacy goes absolutely insane and starts cutting herself open to get the vines out and when Jeff decides that they need to cut off Mathias's legs- truly eye catching and horrifying. I loved this movie- i thought it was shot really sick (meaning awesome) and i deff am going to buy it right when it comes out.

Into the Wild (2007)
I love this movie!
2 February 2008
Warning: Spoilers
When i first saw this fabulous movie with an all star cast (Emile Hirsh, William Hurt,Marcia Gay Harden, CATHERINE KEENER, Vince Vaughn, and the great Hal Harbrook- congrats on the Oscar nomination!) I was COMPLETELY blown away. From the amazing scenery, the sugary sweet moments and the great acting Into The Wild is truly one of the best movies i have seen in a long time. I have to say that even though Emile was great in his breakthrough role as Christopher, Catherine Keener was truly the one who blew me away. She played a married hippie Jan Burres who talked and gave shelter to the young and homeless Christopher- her scenes with her talking and sharing i guess you could say stories were amazing- she played this role with great subtlety- it was small yet very powerful! And when i saw that she was snubbed from being nominated for an Oscar i was shocked and saddened!- BTW why in the world was Sariose Ronan nominated for Atonement she was annoying and completely overacted her role as Birony Tallis- i was very disappointed to see that she was nominated and Keener was not!! I truly believe that everyone who is reading this by now goes out and rents or even buys Into The Wild it will be a movie that you will never forget- trust me! Jackson Surrett

Evening (2007)
9/10
how i liked evening
1 July 2007
I saw this movie Sunday afternoon. I absolutely loved this movie. I loved everything about it, from the sappy moments of mothers and daughters to the scenes where Mamie Gummer (Lila) is crying because of her poor decision in marrying a man for her parents and not because she is truly in love. I loved these moments because they were just so real. At first I was seriously scared because I was hoping that it would not end up like Bobby, which was a great cast but a poorly written movie with no real meat to it. But during the middle of the movie i felt completely different. You will laugh and you will cry but in the end you will want to see Evening one more time. Trust me when i say GO SEE IT!
