Scoop (2023)
Hansal Mehta Masterpiece
After Scam 92 this is another Hansal Mehta Masterpiece. Excellent story telling that keeps you engaged with stellar performances by Karishma Tanna, Zeeshan Ayub, Deven Bhojani, Prasenjit, Harman Baweja and many other class actors. Karishma Tanna proved that she is much more than her glamorous and beautiful looks while Zeeshan Ayub was spell bounding as Imran as well as the pivotal actor in the show. It was great to see the cute Mr. Deven Bhojani from Dekh Bhai Dekh fame after long, Prasenjit did well in a small guest role. Directors like Zoya Akhtar need to learn direction & story telling from Hansal Mehta. Though it's a depressing story, it has a positive ending with redemption from the dark world of news for the lead character.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Masterpiece on Netflix
I don't know where do I begin from to praise this amazing work. Adapted from Bernard Cornwell's 'The Saxon Chronicles', the series is a master piece. I watched it 5 times in the binge, I lived as Uthred of Bebbanburg and became a die hard fan of every character in the series. Every seasons gives you a new adventure, new characters & something to miss. I wish some of the characters were not killed or died. Alfred the great played by David Dawson was one of the best TV characters I have watched till date. The Lady of Mercia, leaves you in tears as she leaves Uthred forever and the actress Millie Brady left me in love with her forever. Some of the other amazing characters we will always miss are that of Father Beocca, Aethelwold, Gisela, Lord Odda, Leofrich, Steappa, Brida & Aethelred. And last but not the least Alexander Dreymon leaves an impression by carrying ahead the difficult and cplex character of Uthred. I am waiting for 'Seven Kings Must Die' impatiently and wished this series never ended.
Four More Shots Please! (2019)
The wannabe stuff
Pathetic, over blown, extremely flashy, fake series. Pritish Nandy can definitely come up with something so gaudy. This seems more like trying to be desperate houswives or Sex and the City. It's totally wannabe and mixed up crap . The series does not have a story line or doesn't make sense, just running around with the lives of 4 grown up but immature women, some of whom are spoit rich brats trying to justify crazy actions and blaming men for everything and anything. Some good actors like Jim Sarbh and Sushant Singh get crumpled and wasted in the casting and poor direction. Skip this for sanity.
Jogi (2022)
Average movie
I found the movie pretty average in storyline, narration and acting. The theme was great but they just tried to make it more cinematic and dramatic with very poor acting and narrative. The plot failed to keep the audience interested. Daljit Dosanj was per say very very mediocre along with Zeeshan Ayub & Hiten Tejani. Amyra Dastur deserved more exposure compared to her cameo. The dialogues were cringe and the climax was too common kind. They wanted to make it a story about friendship against the backdrop of the anti Sikh riots of Delhi but then they got confused about the plot & started deviating and then again came back to the narrative. Overall a one time watch but can be skipped to avoid boredom.
Ek Villain Returns (2022)
Cringe acting and storyline
Pathetic, intolerable acting from each and every actor. A dumb storyline with no sense, enacted with blown out of proportion dialogues.
The only saving grace was Disha Patani worth watching for her looks and not acting. The songs are pretty average, John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor were intolerable and carried the same expressions successfully through out the movie. Tara Sutaria should not be doing Bollywood movies anymore and shift to South where actresses are treated as show pieces showing their skin. There is no thrill or suspense in the movie and everything can be guessed from scene one
Overall a torture of 2.5 hours..please skip this if possible.
