Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities: The Autopsy (2022)
Well.. This sure left it's mark on me
Damn.. This episode was.. Chilling. For real. I'm not even a huge horror fan generally, but I like to watch some good ones from time to time. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of sci-fi and as soon as I found out it's happening about aliens and stuff like that, I was in for it with my full attention. It's good to say that this really gave me "The Thing" vibes. It is a very good comparison as a matter of fact. The theme is similar, the mistery, the plot, and even though I could almost predict some things happening halfway through, it was still a very very good watch. Because the atmosphere build up is so freaking good, the actors, the score, beautiful shots, amazing camera angles, I mean I was astonished a couple of times in this episode by the pure directing skills of David Prior. I never heard of the guy before but I'm sure as hell gonna remember him after this all. As a brief student of film directing myself, I was amazed with utmost respect for some of the shots, camera angles etc. Really crazy, A movie stuff here. And yeah, the plot is original on its own, in its own little world. That last third of the episode however gave me ultimate shivers, tingling and all sort of uncomfy feelings lol. A lot of gore and gruesome moments, nothing is censored. Its a hard watch by the end, creepy asf. But definitely worth it, its a cinematic masterpiece indeee. Give it a try, you won't waste it :)
Tales of the Walking Dead: Blair/Gina (2022)
One of the worst things I have ever watched
This is one of the worst and stupides TV episodes I have ever watched of anything in general, but especially when it comes to mind that it belongs to TWD. It doesn't have anything to do with it, it feels extremely out of place, no TWD vibes whatsoever. The production is so B-rating, and the acting was horrible and overexaggarated. Not even a glimpse of realism, explanation, anything. Failed attempt at horror-comedy. I don't know what the hell is this episode even doing here in TWD universe lol. It wouldn't be accepted anywhere else standalone, but let alone in TWD universe which is gritty, serious and deep. There is nothing alike that in this episode. It was a complete waste of time, and at a certain point it was really unwatchable, I was seriously thinking to just stop it midway and end it there. But I stayed up till the end just for the sake of it, and yeah, nothing better happened lol.
So folks, feel free to steer clear away from this episode as you won't miss anything, you'll just waste about 45 minutes of your time on nothing.
Beef: The Drama of Original Choice (2023)
Wow..
Just wow.. Where do they get this stuff from? Just when I thought everything was finally resolved and left a little confused with what the hell is the purpose of 3 more episodes and what are they gonna do with it, I'm blown once again lol.. I absolutely love this show for it's unprecendeted "you did not see that coming" factor. It's always the smallest of things that puts these big domino effects in action, just like in real life, which is why I love this show so much. It's so fricking realistic. We see more of what kind of characters the main protagonists really are, and it's incredible how layered and complex these characters actually are. Again, the end left me for God knows what time already, with a "oh no that didn't just happen" feel. I don't know how they manage to do that with every single episode and not feel repetitive, and with that in mind, I give out a huge respect to the team. Let's keep it going, only two episodes left, with the ninth being the highest rates one si far, so I'm in for a ride, let's keep it rolling, can't wait to see what happens next. Things are back in motion, and the biggest drama is occuring now :)
Beef: Such Inward Secret Creatures (2023)
Cinematic masterpiece
This is the first time I am writing a review on iMDB, and that alone can tell you how amazing this episode was that it actually made me take me time and do it. This episode was a pure cinematic masterpiece that literally gave me goosebumps and even made me clap at it at the end. So many twists and turns every second of the way pulled out in such a comedic manner that it's just fantastic. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and it felt like 5 minutes. I felt like watching modern day Pulp Fiction. That is the best comparison for this episode. I'll definitely watch it again for the quality of it. Just when you think to yourself "oh no he/she didn't just do that" another scene pops up escalating even further making you go "wait, what? Seriously? On top of everything now this?". Kudos to the screenwriters and creators for making a small pulp fiction film just out of one episode of this show. This is what cinema is about, and this is what we are all here for. Give it a go, you won't regret it. :)
