Masterpiece

Just watched this in 2023 and after having to put up with many nonsenses coming from streaming platforms, this film was a breathe of fresh air. Acting, script, storyline, that noir approach just makes it an excellent action drama film.

Joaquin Phoenix gives and outstanding performance. Wish I could say the same for Mark Wahlberg, who I'm a fan of, but he just didn't get the attention required for me to put him on par with Phoenix. Accompanying characters were good too, like Eva Mendez and Robert Duvall.

I don't understand ratings below 7 to be honest, so if you're into these types of films, nevermind those critics, give it a shot and judge for yourself.

Not the worst, def not great

I can't believe Arnold actually agreed to this type of series but whatever. Most characters are bad, with the exception of some. The idea of the series was good, with better actors, characters and a bit more of a serious approach, this could've actually worked. Instead you get the typical and burned out small jokes tossed in between compromising or dangerous scenarios, CIA agents who look like they were pulled out of a fast food restaurant and subtle progressive garbage.

The good? For starters, Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in it. Second, action scenes aren't bad and storyline is entertaining enough to keep you watching it (considering there are only 8 episodes).

If you dive in thinking you will watch something similar to Stallone's Tulsa King, you will be disappointed.

Great and easy comedic drama

Warning: Spoilers
All I have to say is that Season 1 was by far the best. Watching a (American) football coach from Kansas be shipped off to England to coach a premier league underdog FOOTBALL club was fun to watch; how he develops into the job, his relationship with players and staff, Ted's goofyness all smash into a fun to watch show.

Season 2 revolves more around character development as it focuses more on each of their personal lives (there was an episode dedicated to Beard).

Just started Season 3 and so far it feels a bit different to its former seasons; it's not as funny, but it's still there.

I noticed some people complaining about there being many Apple products being displayed... Well; honestly, what did you expect? Apple doesn't have to pay any royalties for using their own brand, as they would if other brands were displayed. Loosen up and just enjoy the show.

I initially gave it 9 stars

But as the seasons went on, I realized the show has shifted from a good action show, the likes of Law & Order, to PC garbage. I don't get the writers though, these kinds of shows target a certain crowd, why on Earth will you sabotage your show just to please a crowd who isn't typically interested in this type of entertainment to begin with? TBH I'm kinda angry lol. I used to LOVE the show; the characters, the storyline, the action... it's really frustrating how entertainment is compromised by cancel culture and "wokesters", and even more frustrating how writers and producers are subjected to it.

Anyway, Season 1-3 are really good (especially 1 & 2). Seasons 4 and onwards takes a nosedive.

Very soapie with some sci-fi
2 September 2022
I first starting watching the series because as a sci-fi fan, the premise intrigued me. As the storyline developed, classic soap opera drama came into play and not so much sci-fi as it was in the beginning. Is it bad? Not at all, especially if you can get passed average acting (the norm in soaps) and the character Grace, who's nearly as annoying as Skylar from Breaking Bad.

Nonetheless, I still watched it because it's good enough to have me hooked while scrolling through Instagram and Twitter lol. All jokes aside, solid 6. There are likeable characters such as Ben, Mick and even Jared, who can be a drag at times with his insecurities with Mick yet you still don't want anything bad happening to the man. For once the clairvoyant kid (Cal) who people depend on for clues isn't a total jackass as other characters the likes of his in other series/films.
