BoJack Horseman (2014)
Watched it 6 times and will rewatch it
There's just so much to say about this show because the show itself says so much about the modern world. It's a demonstration of utter genius from everyone behind this show, given the latter's ability to touch and delve into the complexity and variety of psychological and sociological problems in the context of modern American society, and hook them all together with a touch of dark humour and sarcasm. The uniqueness and the development of the main characters throughout the show is incredible, and the way specific scenes, dialogues, items, characters, and places connect to each other through slick foreshadowing and symbolisation throughout the whole show is just pure. Never watched anything with a similar flow, and every time I watch it I discover new things and connect more dots.
The Sinner (2017)
Jessica Biel, you are great
This show is incredible, Bill Pullman is absolutely amazing and Jessica Biel has just won a fan. I just wasn't aware of this woman's versatility - her acting is super natural and the production of this show is very professional and it deserves a higher rating. The story is unique in each and every season and Bill's character develops through them while keeping himself out of the main spotlight and instead maintaining it on the principal victims/cases. I think this is a genius show and each season's outcome is unknown until the very end - it keeps you mystified and hooked and the variety between cases brings variety to the experience.
Devil in Ohio (2022)
Low Budget, Bad Acting
This is like those tv shows our middle aged mothers like.. you know the ones that feel cozy and easy to understand.. but wait.. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE A HORROR/THRILLER SHOW. *facepalm* Terrible acting, terrible scenario, terrible production all over, terrible clichés, absolutely no credibility whatsoever and in no way will you feel immersed in the story. It reminds me of Aaron Martin's "Slasher" with its low budget and 2005 soap opera energy. I'm giving 3 stars for the "better-than-the-rest" acting of Madeleine Arthur (Mae), Xaria Dotson (Jules) and Sam Jaeger (Peter). The rest I wouldn't even know where to start.
Alma (2022)
Bravo Bravo Bravo
I've studied filmmaking and I have a knack for mystery, horror, psychological thrillers and supernatural genres and I can tell you that this show is way better that its ratings. Every single aspect was well planned and well thought of, and the producers knew exactly what they were doing. The story itself is intriguing and it doesn't need jump scares to keep you awake (provided you actually immerse yourself in the story, and in my case I was fully). Camerawork and acting were impressive for a Netflix show and even though sometimes they weren't perfect I believe this deserves a 10 for really impressing me especially compared to how deceiving and unimmersive recent shows have been. Kudos to the team behind this.
Dark (2017)
Absolutely exquisite, magical and genius
Lost for words on this one. No time to blink. You need to keep a notebook and take notes throughout the show if you don't want to feel your brain cells fighting each other to keep up and make out the story. Absolute masterpiece.
Il était une seconde fois (2019)
10 for unique aesthetic and feeling
I'm aware of the bad reviews, but regardless this show distinguishes itself by its aesthetically-pleasing cinematography, colour grading, and thought-provoking story. It keeps a dreamy and emotional sentiment throughout and cannot be compared to any other show, which for me deserves a 10.
Les 7 vies de Léa (2022)
10 for keeping it simple and meaningful
The number of ways this could've gone wrong but it didn't. They kept it simple yet interesting throughout the whole series. I wasn't expecting it to be good.
