A Nice Cultural Touchstone

This is a movie everybody should watch for the sake of having watched it. Some of the acting and effects have not aged well, but the story is entertaining enough, and it provides a fairly rich environment for later references.

A beautiful bore

Parts of this film reflect amazing cinematography, but the plot is disjointed and boring. There's really no need for anybody to see it. People who rate it highly focus on a few points (a few excellent shots) and try to give the story more respect than its writers did. It makes little sense and it's boring to boot. We go from a wandering amnesiac to some sort lost love story with pretensions of meaning. I can't stress how incoherent and unbelievable the plot is.
