XO, Kitty (2023)
This show was okay, it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either.
Just a heads up before I start, but be respectful of others opinions pls. Just because you like or hate something doesn't mean you need others to do the same. Half of this review section is mostly just people hating and others liking while being also very aggressive and forcing.
Anyways, I just wanted to say that I loved the idea of having Lara Jean's sister, Kitty, have her own series but this would've done better if it followed the format of Lara Jean's love story.. in other words maybe a movie series instead of an actual one.
What happened in 10 episodes could have happened in just 2 hours and 30 minutes of watching. Maybe even just 2 hours, if the writers would have a good job summarizing everything which they clearly did not.
The story did NOT go anywhere. The acting was alright and I did love the energy of Kitty, but also hated her character from time-to-time especially since she meddled a whole lot in the story.
It was introduced to us in the beginning that the whole reason of her wanting to go to Korea was to meet Dae, which did happen but also because she wanted to know more about her mom. And well..
The side stories about her mom felt a little underwhelming. Throughout the episodes, it was only inserted a little bit every here-and-there and then back to her love story which I know was the main theme anyway, but the writers could've made a scenario whereas it would seem that finding more about her mom wasn't just a side quest.
All-in-all, I think that's all for me. I hope everybody had a great and maybe a not-so-great time watching the show. Waiting for season 2 just because I do admit I have a love-hate relationship type with this kinds of series!!
The School for Good and Evil (2022)
Once again, it's another case of the book was better than the movie.
The start of this was honestly good. The story was interesting, plot was pulling you in, but in the middle to the end, it just kind of sorta fell off the right road it was going. SPOILERS AHEAD WARNING:
To be fairly honest, the problem I had with this wasn't the plot itself considering it was pretty interesting to me anyway, but the way they told the story was super annoying. For example, they mention that Agatha was the first ever princess the School of Good had that actually followed the rules and had purest of hearts and all, yanno the basic fairy tale requirements in well, a fairy tale. Now, the main problem for me is that they never really show Agatha's powers throughout the movie. How they develop and become grow stronger and all that, unlike with what happened for Sophie.
Yes, yes, I get it. Sophie technically is the reason why they found the School in the first place so she needs more screen time anyway but the fact that Agatha's screen time is literally only just her saying "Hey, stop! That's bad! Don't do that! Cut it out!" and her being nice was what I found to be so annoying. While we got to see Sophie's powers get stronger and stronger the more she embraced being Evil, Agatha the other hand, where was her development?
The literal only moments where she got her powers be demonstrated was when she only turned into a bird and that's basically all she did apart from the lake thing. So yes, this movie has a tremendous problem with the way it narrates the story.
Overall, I wouldn't rate it as a 1 or a 2, since the graphics were undeniably majestic. Music choice for some scenes could have been well... better. Especially in the fight scene nearing to the end of the movie imo. The story again was also good, just lacked a lot of the details and all.
Giving this a 4 outta 10 and thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
Mahô Shôjo Saito (2018)
It's better to just read the manga.
After reading the manga and watching the anime afterwards, there's a lot of differences already to be honest. However, I won't spoil them because that's for you guys to experience.
