Awful and Obnoxious
5 June 2022
It's been a while since I had been so frustrated and mindblown on how bad a film was, and to say I felt that level of disappointment with this "period biopic" is an understatement. Filled with awful writing, piss poor performances, and cartoonish action sequences, "Samrat Prithviraj" has nothing to offer. Neither does the film be accurate historically, nor does it make it a lot more entertaining. The background score is bland, Obnoxious and overpresent, and actively takes away from the enjoyment of the film. Yeah it's a period piece, where Prithviraj totally kills someone who actually was alive after even Prithvi' own death!

A Beautiful, Lovely Film, pulled down by it's weak ideas
22 May 2022
Kimi No Nawa is one of the most beautiful looking Films, my little eyes have ever witnessed. The pleasing hand drawn animations are absolutely eye-catching and impressive. The direction of photography is phenomenal and the musical score is stellar and comforting. The film's concept is pretty alright and is executed in a fairly proper way. What brings down the holistic feel of the movie, is it's kind of boring character traits and the way their arcs go. It doesn't have anything all that substantial, as much as it has in style. It is not even close to being as profound as it thinks it is, and it is easily his weakest work in terms of writing. But, Still, Kimi Are Nawa is a lovely, beautiful film, that is entertaining for the most part and has some of the best visuals and music you'll hear in a film.

Enemy (2013)

Intriguing, Puzzling and Resonating
22 May 2022
Denis Villeneuve' "Enemy" is one of the most interesting films of the decade, both in terms of the substance and style of the film, and most importantly it's reception. It's gained an interesting reception of two extrema. If you have watched Enemy, It's either an intricate Masterpiece, or Pretentious Mediocrity for you. And, As for me, I definitely fall into the first category.

Enemy has a very immersive, intriguing and eerie style, in terms of it's very meticulously crafted, eerie and moody score, and it's very unique toned cinematography. It immediately informs the viewer to be cautious and attentive. It demands attention and pays it off in convoluted ways.

Jake Gyllenhaal' performance is Fantastic as always, and him taking on two characters in this film makes it all the more impressive and strongly resonating. He showed very nuanced and intricate differences in the behaviour of each character and it is very interesting to watch it.

I love how the film walks between the line of an artistic metaphor and grounded reality, in aspects of very personal and intimate phenomena such as lust, greed and the struggle to be loyal and the ultimate failure at it. It is psychedelic and burns slowly. The ideas of the film are too interesting to not be thinking about even after the credits roll, and I absolutely think it's a masterpiece of modern cinema.

A One of A Kind Trippy Experience of a Film
21 May 2022
Cryptozoo, in it's story and ideas itself, is sprawling and honestly a mess. There are a lot of weird humour and plot points here, But what is definitely also here, is an awful lot of soul and passion. The animation, very creative, otherworldly, adds so much depth to the overall experience. There are some fantastic trippy animation sequences that make for a one of a kind Movie of experience.

Unnecessary and Unachieving
3 May 2022
For a film that markets itself as a different and funny love movie, It is neither of those. It gets as unrealistic as it goes, and nor does it hit you with that constant sense of entertainment and humour, that made his directorial debut "Naanum Rowdy Dhaan" work so well. Vijay Sethupathi being a great actor, gives one of his most weakest performances in a while. While sometimes funny, It is mostly just lukewarm and unfunny, and borderline annoying at times.

A Mostly well executed, Beautiful Experience
2 May 2022
Life Of Pi is slow, Faux artsy and Faux Deep, and not always gripping or compelling. But, most of it's missteps are outweighed by the absolute audio visual symphony it offers. Filled with beautiful cinematography and Touching music to back, It's at times fascinating and Hopeful. It's not exactly profound, could be even shallow, and it's not exactly fantastic, But it's still a fairly well made film based on a fairly well written novel.
