90 Feet from Home (2019)
Wasted Opportunity
It is my opinion most of the lower ratings have come from the odd and strange change of direction the film took once the intruders came to the house. It made absolute no sense, and it was painful in a bad way seeing the older brother sobbing over a situation that did not make sense. After that it seemed the story just spiraled into a strange way and what could have been a solid thriller was a bit more hard to watch toward back-half of movie. I'm being a little generous with my rating due to good acting. I think the ending too just didn't do enough "justice" a viewer was hoping for with all the pain of the step dad for entire movie.
Out of Exile (2022)
Underrated Thriller
This is a very well-made film. (solid acting, directing and story) I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Good storyline about bank robbers in TX. The movie did an excellent job of keeping consistent pace and the acting was pretty good. Also, I appreciated the fact that it had more character development and was a slow burn that did not feel slow. Directing and story-line well-made, and the twists and turns in the movie were effective and with purpose. I would actually recommend watching this one if you like a good thriller that has a nice storyline to it. Excellent work here and would like to see more like these.
The Sound (2017)
Underrated
I don't think this is nearly as bad as it's getting reviewed imo. It's a slow burn mystery/drama thriller and I think it's worth a watch for sure. This is not an action film, but more methodical.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Strange Weird Nightmare
This is a strange weird nightmare of a movie that makes no sense and is not humorous but instead just weird. One of the worst movies I've seen in the theatre in a decade. The ratings are incredibly inflated on this one.
1883 (2021)
Days of Our Lives on the Oregon Trail
You have to start crying in what feels like every 5 minutes for 1883. Toughness is measured by a young teenage girl giving fortune cookie poetry at the beginning and end and throughout every episode. Apparently in 1883 folks carried around 100's in cash like it was nothing, and the Comanche protected those white pioneers since they were falling in love with the one of them... the demographics of history here is ridiculous that those living then would be laughing their heads off. I've never seen Sam Ellliot or any cowboy have to keep crying so much... The women give the orders and the men begrudgingly fall in line in this extremely ridiculous portrayal of life in 1883. It's entertaining and cinematography is excellent. It is comical but in no way to be taken seriously.
