John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Boring
Before this movie, I watched Zoolander and Tropic Thunder, and I believe they are still less silly films compared to this one. Perhaps in the 1950s, a story and direction like this would have caused a stir, but today, they are ridiculous compared to any action movie. In the first film, the protagonist was driven by a sort of vendetta that, in a certain way, held the plot of the entire film together. However, in this sequel, there isn't a single sensible reason why he does what he does; the reasons that push Wick to kill are dictated by coincidence. Spoiler alert! The movie introduces a new character, not just anyone, but the one who helped Wick wipe out the Russian mafia (yes, that 'impossible task' episode), the boss of the Italian mafia, Santino D'Antonio. He asks Wick for help in attaining absolute power, how? Well, he wants to get rid of his sister. Wick refuses, so Santino decides to convince him to get back to work by blowing up his house - because that's the most logical thing to do, right? It would already be crazy if it was just anyone, but no, you blow up the house of the same person who wiped out an entire army... Okay! Now I'll turn off my brain and accept this, after all, it's an action movie. The problem is that everything is like this; Santino, being very intelligent, then tries to kill Wick under the pretext of avenging his sister (or out of fear of being killed by Wick himself), but it doesn't matter because, in either case, you don't provoke someone hoping there won't be consequences. This movie, for me, is absurd; it lacks substance, and there isn't a single good reason why one should watch certain scenes. Even movies from 50 years ago have more adrenaline-pumping scenes. To me, it's trash.
Dare mo shiranai (2004)
Ugly copy of Grave of the Fireflies
This movie is ridiculous, it lacks originality, it's as if throughout the whole film there's someone honking the horn to tell you, 'Hey, you know what's going to happen next?' It's all so stupidly predictable, and what isn't ends up being ridiculously stupid. In that masterpiece 'Grave of the Fireflies,' there was emotion, an emotional connection, but here it's completely lacking. It only plays on the drama of the situation, the discomfort and misery, aiming for the viewer's easy tears, but there's no depth to it. And the ending is both predictable and disjointed, not giving any explanation for what will happen to those kids.
Creators: The Past (2019)
Childish and stupid
A movie that doesn't to make sense to exist; there's no plot, the script is poorly written, from character development to the themes tackled. We are often witness to scenes that are completely disconnected from each other. In theory, there are villains who control the world, okay? However, they are never introduced to us, we don't know their goals or why they do what they do. Throughout the movie, we are thrown back and forth and, to make matters worse, it's filled with a mixture of confusing new age theories, aliens, government, and religious conspiracies that, if taken separately, could have made sense. The director is making their first film and it shows; only someone who knows nothing about cinema wouldn't see the problems with shot/reverse shot, which is incredibly annoying. The special effects range from decent to 1999 standards, nothing is saved.
