Could've been great

This movie meandered into boredomville 3/4 through and the ending was excruciating. I was stoked to see it and wanted it to be spectacular but I got unimaginative disappointment. Shyamalan's worst film to date.

Bizarre mess with one fantastic asset

Disjointed story with a slight cornball factor but wasn't boring. It did offer one spectacular treasure and that's Allie Gonino's hypnotic hotness and presence. Hey I'm a male and she was stunning, ultra-sexy, and captivating. Her singing performance in the film was killer rock babe heaven with a great voice. She's one of the most devilishly delicious female actors I've seen and I hope she has better upcoming roles. Yes indeed...

Almost good
22 November 2017
Was almost a good film, at times. Although I consider this classic, overused plot theme to be a personal favorite if done well, this was painful to watch and I wish somebody had noticed the problems and spoken up while making this film; unfortunately, they probably weren't allowed to, or they possibly worked for the toilet cleaning crew. This movie made me realize what a spectacular, iconic masterpiece 1998's Wild Things was . . . and now, by gut-wrenching contrast, at this very moment, Wild Things seems like it could be the greatest movie ever made.

A blood soaked blast of raunchy goodness
22 November 2017
A blood soaked blast of raunchy goodness. I usually despise this particular sub-genre of horror film, but I dug everything about it. Samara Weaving--who just became a new personal favorite--is scorching hot, radiant, and so much freaking fun . . . I might have to watch it a few more times just to relive experiencing the first time I saw her and her electrically charged blonde hair and said, "I like her . . ."

Harsh Times (2005)

This is one of the most intense and well acted thrillers ever made. Christian Bales performance was incredible, his best to date!
18 April 2007
This was an unbelievably intense portrait of a man who lose his grip on life and control. By far Christian Bales most riveting performance to date. I'm one his biggest fans but I never thought he could out do American Psycho, but he has. This was a Totally realistic drama and I've known guys like his character Jim Davis who because of the military became something like this monster portrayed by Bale.

This movie is better than Training Day and a must see for fans of realistic action thrillers with substance. There are so many bad movies without depth or good acting and this is a shining example of great film making.

David Ayer (writer/director) also directed Training Day and this is his his second film. So far his only two films are two of the best crime drama/action-thriller movies I have ever seen. At times during the film Bales intense swings from laughing to explosive rage had me pinned to my seat. His South-Central Los Angeles accent was great as he is one of the best at altering his speech (especially considering he is from Wales and has a British accent). Co star Freddy Rodriguez had an incredible performance as character Jim Davis best friend and last hope to get help. The whole story shows life in a heavily Latin influenced Los Angeles and Rodriguez is a great actor with a bright future. Harsh Times is not a movie for the squeamish and not because of anything but intensity.
