The Boys: The Instant White-Hot Wild (2022)
Soldier Boy? The strongest hero?
Soldier boy spends most of his time glowing and if someone interrupts him he's useless 🙄 what a shotty "homelander killer". This whole season as a whole is like a 6 at best with some episodes being a strong 8. Was really looking forward to this but the writing is slipping.... and yeah the ending, homelander can just kill civilians now I guess.
The Terminal List (2022)
It's DARK brutal emotional and shocking.
Probably the best Chris Pratts been in years, it dosnt feel like he phoned this role in just for a paycheck like he has in the jurassic world.
Action 10/10
Acting/Dialogue 9/10 (for most everyone)
Pacing overall.... 6.5/10 some episodes felt like they could've cut out some stuff to tighten the series up but it didn't ruin the show.
Plot/theme 7.5/10 (there's a lot of moving parts) and some you just don't understand until you watch the whole season.
There's not much military cringe stuff either which I loved.
It's DARK, brutal, emotional and shocking. This is not a feel good show. But in the end it's pretty damn close to a perfect streaming show.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Im mad at the moment
I wanted so much to love this show. Its...bad. Real bad. The 3rd episode is what broke me. The editing and the terrible screenplay is what ruined it for me. The episode is like THIS is the CLIMAX but wait let's just cut away from it real quick to give you a scene from one of the other 4 storylines then BACK TO THE CLIMAX for 3 seconds and then cut to another storyline you don't gaf about. This seems like a fan made film but worse. I'm not paying for Disney plus and this is why. I will be honest at the time of this writing review I haven't finished the series but...ep 3 broke me. I'm just mad at how this was even green lit. It's honestly so far a 4 out of10 but why tf would I even give it the courtesy? Because it hasn't given me 4/10 storytelling. It's garbage even though the graphics are great.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
A CGI film with emotionless acting
This movie was so hyped....and I was into the hype. The first Dr strange was so good, great pacing and progression with great acting and story. This film however focuses on cgi battles and stale conflict with little actual emotional acting. Some scenes could've been much more sinister and impactfull if the actors were up for it. I think Marvel has to take notes from The Boys and start creating actual villains.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Realistic Reveiw
Never have I been more excited for a release. The trailer is an absolute 10/10 it sold this movie to me for 3 years basically. In reality Maverick is a good movie, well filmed, the action scenes and practical effects were the main appeal to this movie and that was made clear, they are the 10/10 people are talking about.
In reality the acting can be stale at times, line delivery can me messy or you'll hear cheesy call backs and it's very much 'member berries'. It does pay homage to the original but I would've liked to have seen it do that in the beginning and then try to stand on its own feet. I actually started to fall asleep during the middle act, it slows down HARD. It is well done though it's not bad, they do a bit of character building and rapport between connelly and cruise but then picks it back up again for the final act. IMHO the first and last are a decent 8 but the middle act dragged so much it really could've used some editing room chopping.
... how did maverick even.....in the opening.....15 minutes? Nvm lol he's Maverick.
Good movie, great action, a tad messy at times. 7.
Meltdown: Three Mile Island (2022)
Honest review
This is an amazingly well produced docu-series from Netflix once again. It's the gold standard in documentaries these days so you get what you expect. It seems to have been produced during covid lockdowns so even the main speaker is just alone in a room/studio talking to a camera with no one else there except on a speaker. Makes it very one on one with the audience whenever he's talking. He is very good. The story is great! Tragic and should be extremely highlighting in today's culture. JUST because someone in authority tells you something is safe, think beyond that and ask about monetary benefits or costs savings because deep down, all the government or beneficiaries care about is profit and economic progress on the literal backs of its citizens. My only issue is nearing the end it does trend on the anti nuclear power side of speech which is clearly biased as nuclear energy is produced in a lot of countries safely and is extremely efficient. I do think nuclear energy tech needs more funding and not less. If it can replace coal and or fuel power plants I think the green energy people should love it. BUT it HAS to be SAFE and strictly adhered to. No. Shortcuts.
Old Henry (2021)
Artistic af
The amazing thing about this movie isn't necessarily the story. It's everything encompassing it. The musical score is an 8.5, the shots and cinematography is a 9 and the acting from the cast is SOLID especially the sons acting which I found was great. Tim Blake was fine in the role of Henry but I didn't find him a standout to anyone else. It's rushed but dosnt feel like you're missing any details which is great. It's a tight hour and 20 minute commitment and it's entertaining throughout the runtime. 100% I'd watch it again and I'd recommend. It's a good story told without any fat on it.
The Batman (2022)
It's average.
The first trailer released for this was SOOO good. It probably overhyped the fandom. I was very excited and had high hopes. This movie is extremely frustrating to watch at home. The voice levels vs environment levels are so uneven. Everyone whispers throughout the entire movie and then BOOM a loud train goes by. The batman is unconvincing, the acting choices for a lot of the characters are just bad (chewing gum in a scene being the worst), it's super slow and everything in the first 15 minutes is almost literally in slow motion. I will compliment the shots. It's shot wonderfully and the camera work is great, the atmosphere is fantastic and I get the Gotham feel ish!! The But the acting....even Gordon's character was baaad and I think Jeffery Wright is a great actor. Overall it's just dull, bland and Grey with no outstanding qualities at all and is therefore, average.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Kinda Awesome...
The graphics, acting and story are amazing. When the animation takes a break from its blurry suuuper slow frame per second play, the actual graphics are beautiful. The MAIN thing holding this film down (for me ) was the comic-book-style animation. It hurt my eyes for the first 10 minutes until I got used to it. Otherwise I love the humor, music, character of spiderman/spidermans and the female lead.
Some certain human characters are severely overpowered to the point of breaking the story....
This was a good movie, not great.
To be great, you have to be undeniable and this is undeniably a good movie with some plot holes and a 60 frame per second animation with an alright story and an op antagonist. No idea why this was given 10s by critics but it's worth a watch.
