The perfect true horror film
9 March 2024
I've been craving a unique quality true horror film for way too long. Barbarian was the last time I was truly thrilled. But THIS FILM is no holds barred, balls to the wall, delight to the senses. The special effects were fabulous!! It's wild when a movie has brutal realism with scenes you'd never see in an American movie. Shocking visuals that seem so real it's almost a relief to realize it's not.

I loved this storyline. There was one scene that was nightmare fuel. I instantly thought of that part in Dead Space in the school...

Very few films have a feeling of dread. The main character is INTENSE and doesn't think before doing. In the situation of pure evil moving around from beasts to humans, there are 7 rules that were clearly explained on how to manage this situation. When you mix that with extreme emotional distress, you get a recipe for quite a ride!

That was something for sure!

Warning: Spoilers
My 22 year old daughter told us to watch this film.

We don't normally watch movies in overdub, but we did and the voice acting was actually really good.

I love a good dark creative movie. This checked all the spots. Except the ending. Maybe I'm just daft.

This was a perfect visual example of how greedy and awful humanity is, and our lack of understanding just how deep it really can go. The higher to the top, the "better" people think they are. But they never ever learn, just like our own societies.

It's frustrating to see how hard some try to convince others to work together to save the greater good. Having a really murky attitude on that will never change.

All in all, I was never bored. I left frustrated because they did a really good job showing how horrible humans really are and they made it very believable.

Difference between documentary and a scary movie
23 September 2023
I feel quite saddened for all the people who for some reason thought this film was supposed to scare them out of their wits and are upset it didn't, for that reason.

This was a solid documentary.

I think it's important to approach this with an open mind, and that's really what they were showing needs to happen with things that we don't quite understand.

Ever since I was a toddler I have been tormented by dark forces I never asked for. I've moved over and over and unfortunately sensitivities can't just be shut off.

When we bought this home, I had one rule that no one has died in the home. Turns out there was an unsolved very violent murder here, and a suicide one month before moving in. I'm not afraid. They are here, they make it very very clear they are here. It's people like the Newkirks who provide a light along the way to have a calm approach and learn from our experiences.

A haunted house doesn't need to be a scary trope.

This documentary really pulls the blinders off and shows that humanity can be kind and merciful. It's all in our own interpretations of how we can help.

When Dana described what happened to her in her own bed one night, I felt that moment because I've experienced something every bit as traumatic.

I've been an admirer of their work for many many years and appreciate everything they share with the world.

Open minds and research are necessary in today's lack of critical thought. I truly hope that every skeptic has an experience someday that gives them some motivation to understand we are not just all alone.

Wham! (2023)

Really Fun Blast from the Past
8 July 2023
I was born in 1976 and grew up with Wham! Being a staple of the music on the radio as a kid. It was 'dare you to not dance and sing' amazing. I remember being 8 and belting out careless whisper so much that my mom begged me to stop and I did once my voice ran out. One day during a bath, I got my big toe stuck in the bathtub faucet. I was not paying attention as I was too focused on nailing the chorus down. The Wham!bulance and fire department had to come and free me from a very naked embarrassing situation. My mom did drain the tub and throw me a towel to cover up in. True story.

We all know how George Michael advanced after his 4 short years in Wham! We know his trials and tribulations and the heartbreaking end of his story.

But who really knows the story of how it all began?

This is a brilliant documentary as you hear this wonderful story of 2 best friends since pre-puberty follow their dreams and create something truly magical. It's a fun ride, with lots of opportunities to sing along, and yet the entire time I was waiting for the other shoe to drop.

We ALL KNOW how hard that shoe drops when George is on his own.

Baby spoiler- it never happens.

These documentarians stayed laser focused on their formative years all the way up to the final tour. Then fin. It was so cool to see a documentary in todays times in which we crave off the negative, just spoon feed us the positive, even when we can still read between the lines.

I recommend this doc if you are a fan of their music. Even if you just LIKE it, this flick will remind you that you've been lying to yourself all these years, and you love them as much as the rest of us. Assimilate.
