One Ranger (2023)
Local interest only
The only good thing about this movie was spotting the local buildings in sleepy Ipswich Suffolk, the Garret Anderson accident & emergency building, Ipswich county council building, Burtons old sweet factory. .and multiple views of the water front. .customs building included. . The movie was poor. .the desert screens may of been somewhere more exotic. There was even a shot of the abandoned little chief on the A14. .and a wonderful shot of Portman road football ground . .over all poorly filmed and acted, just didn't believe in the characters. . Bit of a poor man's Jack reacher to be fair. No doubt there'll make a One Ranger 2.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Dated , hasn't stood the test of time ,quite dull,
I love Sci-Fi books and movies, Star Trek Star wars ,dark matter, matrix, I could go on.
Having been forced off work with a damaged cartilage,I said to the wife let's see what's the best rated sci-fi movies of all time are? And cherry pick a few . After watching John Carpenters The Thing followed by Alien. And then a more recent quality movie Interstellar ! We came to 2001 space Odyssey. . Aptly named correctly , crikey it is odd, with a story line that should of been captivating and failed. .I suppose the special effects were adequate for the time, it drones on far to long, the sound track wears you down. As do the dull dialogue.
The characters/ actors have so little charisma , charm or anything. It's hard to have any feelings for them.
Compare this to The Matrix. .well there is no comparison. .
There are much better movies to fill an afternoon, but then sitting through this, dare I say "dribble"
Sorry. .not impressed.
Nightmare Alley (2021)
So predictable
Del Toro is a master of the cinema world ,this movie is visually pleasing and masterfully played but dear oh dear ! From the moment Bradley coopers character encounters the man in the cage! (Who looks very much like him). I turned to my wife saying " he'll end up in there " . .this movie drags along to a very predictable dull ending. Very disappointing for a Del Toro flick.
