Buried (2010)
Extremely bad!
Spoiler ahead
The ending makes the whole movie totally useless. Why is it that the film makers think that the every time the good guy dies they have made some kind of master move? To kill off the good guy don't make any movies better - it just makes your audience feel that they have been sitting there for 90 minutes wasting their time. Please respect your audience, who are paining your salary and make movies that feels like you accomplished something instead f giving you the feeling of wasting 90 minutes for nothing. This movie is crap, and it's nothing who can't change that.
The American (2010)
Good movie - bad ending!
Spoilers ahead!
This is an old school thriller. By that I mean that it's focus is on the people, the characters instead like most movies of today - on actions sequences. I like that. Because that means that when there is action it's very exciting and believable.
The actors in this movie are wonderful and so are the directing. The locations follow the tempo of the movie and it feels like we, the audience, are on a journey with the characters. That make you feel for them.
And now the bad. When you have been following a story with real characters and care for them you want them to be able to sort things out. That's were this movie starts derailing. Like a train wreck. The ending is filled with some kind of silly "you have been bad so you can't have a good life" attitude. Really boring and really depressing. I wish that the ending could have followed the logic of the rest of the movie. But off course not - it has to end on a really depressing note so the audience don't start to shoot people for a living. I can see no other reason for making a movie when our hero dies for nothing. Just because the movie makers want to shove some morals down the throat of the people paying for the ticket.
There are also some very beautiful nude scenes in this movie - but i maybe you Americans don't get to see that.
12 Monkeys (1995)
Waste of time
How can you make a movie like this? The ending makes the whole movie watching experience a total waste of time. They could have told this story in a 25 minute episode of The twilight zone. A lot less painful a lot cheaper. With an ending like this you wonder how the movie makers think. Is it like this: "let's make a interesting plot, with good actors and an interesting director. Then let's make it over long - and as a final let us put in a really depressing ending that make the audience think twice about watching another movie. And... we all make a lot of money." The problem is that the audience doesn't make any money - they pay for the spectacle. At least you could respect them enough to give them an intelligent movie with a final that makes sense. I just can't understand why this movie has got so much praise on IMDb? Strange things happen.
Monsters (2010)
Wonderful!
Amazing movie. A real adventure film, the way they don't make them anymore. Sometimes it felt like a travel documentary, very real, very exciting and realistic. The actors are very good, better than most high paid stars of today. And the girl are beautiful in a very natural way. She's also a wonderful actress.
I'ts important to understand that this isn't your ordinary monster movie. You very seldom see them at all, but you feel their presence. Each step of the way, when we follow the couple on their way back from Mexico to USA, we are with them. We are more like travel companions on a journey than viewers of a movie.
The CGI may lack a bit, but that's not important. Considering the extremely low budget, it's just amazing that this movie exist. The production values are still better than with most high profile movies. Do yourself a favor and See this movie for what it is. Go on a journey into a world that is realistic, exciting - and maybe, just maybe, possible.
Prison Break: The Final Break (2009)
Awful
What a waste of time! To end the Prison Break series in this way make you feel you invested all those hours for nothing. This was the most silly, constructed and cheap ending anyone could come up with. The whole plot were also simplified and it felt like it were put together during a coffee break. This is only a try to pump some more advertising on the series. I was long ago since i got so disappointed.
SPOILER AHEAD!
Let's put it this way - the audience were worth a happy ending after all this time, but instead we got an incredibly sappy and silly "I sacrifice myself" - ending that only make you sad. Don't see this - you are better off not to.
Swingtown (2008)
Fantastic!
Swingtown is a brave, entertaining, and fresh series. It is good to see something that takes its audience seriously and that is not filled with violence. The cast makes a wonderful job of bringing the good script to life and in the hands of the professional production design from the 70s this series is a good example of American drama when it's really great. I really like the dialog and the way everyone looks and acts. The sexual revolution is something that American TV very seldom dares to explore. In this series it does it with much charm and entertainment value but at the same time it have a good story to tell. I also like thats it tells the story of two generations at the same time. The production values and the acting are all tom notch. Coming from Europe I don't know why there are so much fuzz over this series in America. The story is not at all controversial - it's just a very good TV-drama with a twist. See it!
Running Scared (2006)
Full throttle - and then some
A big surprise. Fast, exciting, thrilling, well made, and with good actors. This movie is daring and dare to go for it. You should too! I didn't suspect that this movie should be so well made, but it really kept my at the edge of my seat all the time. I really cared for the main characters and rooted for them to make it. It is much evil in this movie and you are sitting and wishing everyone to get what's coming to them. And some does get it. Not in a shy way either, if I may say that. It is also a daring movie which doesn't seem to have given much thought to the American rating system, and that makes the movie even more interesting to watch.
