King Richard (2021)
KING RICHARD (not Venus and Serena)
I appreciate this movie for so many reasons. Aside from the stellar performances throughout the film... I was happy to finally see a film dedicated to the sacrifices and determination of the man (and woman) behind the people so many of consider "great." It is not often we get to see the struggle, tenacity, determination or just day to day story of those that pushed the people we love or admire. Everything about this movie was extraordinary. Despite if you believe Richard's way was right, tactful or ridiculous, there is not question that is was effective! Another great biopic!
Julia (2021)
Julia... Julia... Julia
By far the best documentary on Julia to date. Julia was such an influence on the culinary culture and that was highlighted. Julia Childs was such a phenomenal woman and this documentary confirmed that! There were more 'fillers' than I would have like to see. I personally feel they could have added a few more facts or footage but overall the story was well told. There were a lot of amazing food shots throughout the film that made me want to go and try to prepare what I saw (LOL), but I guess that was the point. The story itself was very inspirational and uplifting. I appreciate the honesty of the documentary as well. Julia's friends were pretty candid on the type of woman she was.
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)
Perfect title!
Such an amazing film! Despite what you do or do not believe, this film was interesting and intriguing (at least). Watching was equivalent to having a front row seat in the life of Tammy Faye. The title was perfect. This film literally allowed you to experience the what's and why's from the vantage point (or from the eyes) of Tammy Faye. Highs and lows, disappointment, anger and so many other emotions will be ruffled within you. Nevertheless, the story is one to watch! I will say this movie discrediting many of the stereotypes that I had about Tammy Faye. For a low budget film, this movie surpassed anything I could have imagined. The acting was superb! Jessica Chastain dived all the way into this role. From the voice depiction, to the embodiment of Tammy (with the prospect is, outfits and wigs), to the singing of her songs... OMGoodness! A+
