Missing 411: The U.F.O. Connection (2022)
Compelling
Whether you have an interest in the UFO phenomenon or not, one thing you have to admit is that there's truly something strange going on. Some of these cases are just bizarre. Almost too bizarre, which in my opinion brings more credibility to the phenomenon. If you were going to make up a story, you wouldn't want the story to be so ridiculous that no one believes you. Well, as you'll find out there's a lot of wtf factors that these cases share with one another. While the movie lacks physical evidence (which you'd kinda expect with alien abduction cases), it more than makes up for it w/ credible testimonies. For example, the FBI agent that was interviewed. If what he said didn't give you chills, you might be a bit too closed minded. "The government won't admit to things that they can't control." If you have a deep interest in UFOs or maybe just a good unsolved mystery, I think you'll enjoy this. Even if you don't buy into this subject matter, it's still a great watch. One more thing... If you're German, don't go Elk hunting in the wilderness alone. Sounds way too bizarre right?
Ancient Apocalypse (2022)
It's Almost a 10
I'll start by giving my only critique of this show, and then I'll list all the reasons why it's fantastic.
My issue is with his methods. Graham has a tendency to reach just a little too far. I'm not saying his theories aren't compelling or believable, but I am saying he's a bit too susceptible to confirmation bias. While a lot of his examples show there's an incomplete history, he does tend to apply the evidence with the specific goal of affirming his theory. You'll be able to recognize this when he's doing it. Several times during the series I remembered thinking, "meh, that's a bit of a stretch".
Now the positive:
Super interesting
Great editing
Good guests
Top notch quality
Presented new and solid evidence
Proposes a compelling theory
Asks the right questions
Makes you question the current narrative used by mainstream archeology
Makes you reassess everything you thought you knew.
Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022)
Don't let negative ppl sway you
This series is highly entertaining, graphic and perfect for Halloween. Some of the best special effects I've seen in a while, and no shortage of them. I think my girlfriend has ptsd from the third episode. Someone on here said this was for kids... pshhhhh... what are you letting your kids watch? This is a Tales From the Crypt on steroids. Don't let the hypercritical reviews sway you. It's totally worth the watch! About to watch the fourth episode now, and I'm honestly excited about it. One bit of advice tho. Don't eat while watching some of these 😂 In fact, don't eat before watching the third episode either. Enjoy!
Bloody Hell (2020)
Bruce Campbell 2.0
If you're an Evil Dead and Army of Darkness fan, and you loved the acting style of Bruce Campbell-you will love this film. Somehow this movie flew under my radar, so what a treat it was to find this hidden gem. While some of the scenes managed to go a little overboard, I actually feel like it worked out great for this movie. To sum up my review in one word, it would have to be FUN. If you're looking through lower budget grindhouse type films to watch on a lazy Sunday, trust me... watch this one. The quality won't disappoint either. Great editing, writing, and a damn good performance by Ben make this a head above the rest. Not just your mass produced cheesy horror here. This is a cult classic contender.
Eight for Silver (2021)
Silver Screen Time
Haven't seen a horror film this good in a while. Creepy atmosphere. Original take on a classic beast. Above average acting, especially for it being a horror. If you think you've seen every take on werewolves, think again. You haven't seen this. Give it a watch.
Spoiler: If I had one suggestion, it would be this: I wish after they removed the silver bullet from the boy (when he was the grown up soldier), he then would revert back to the werewolf. Almost as if the silver bullet was just preventing him from transforming back. Maybe have him wake up, frantically make his way to the German line, and then just have him destroy a bunch of Germans. Lol.
Night Sky (2022)
Series > Present Day Movies
Here's another example of why I choose to watch series over movies these days. Solid storyline. Excellent character development. Not a cash grab. Worth the watch. Movies (for the most part) are cranked out rapidly on a production line. This series shows heart, thoughtfulness and patience. I don't want to give anything away, so here's what I'll say. Push yourself to watch the first few episodes, and then sit back as the story pulls you all the way in. Binge worthy 100%, and it definitely leaves you wanting more.
Outer Range (2022)
Never wanted to see a season 2 more
If you enjoy slow burn sci-fi's with mind bending twist and turns, Outer Range should be number one on your must-see list. Slow burn may not be the best term to use tho, as this series does gain momentum with every episode. Several "aha" moments will take place, but they are replaced with even more "why?" moments. While time travel movies are a dime a dozen, Outer Range is a wonderfully fresh take on a seemingly played out subject matter. Get ready to break your brain with this one, but in the best way possible.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Isn't technology suppose to improve the special effects?
This was so disappointing. I was very excited to see this bc I really loved the trilogy. Well... I wish I hadn't now. I didn't like the direction they took with the story at all, and the effects were barely straight-to-dvd worthy. I could literally write several pages listing all the cheesy head nods they included to the original, but I'm going to end this here. Should have been named, Matrix 4, Repulsed. If you haven't seen it, don't. It's bad enough to taint the whole franchise.
