A Haunting Journey Through Fear and Suspense
14 April 2024
"Disappear Completely" is a visually captivating film with outstanding performances and cinematography. However, as the story unfolds, viewers may find themselves longing for a deeper emotional connection, particularly towards the climax. Director Henaine adeptly portrays the protagonist's descent into darkness, yet the narrative lacks a glimmer of hope, leaving little room for redemption. Despite its adherence to contemporary horror conventions, the film's bleak conclusion enhances its credibility within the genre.

Henaine's direction, combined with effective utilization of sound and setting, heightens the protagonist's journey with subtle yet eerie intensity. Blending elements of investigative thriller and chilling horror, "Disappear Completely" is a skillfully crafted exploration of fear and suspense.

While the film delves into mysticism and tradition, its final moments offer a poignant contemplation on morality and the darker aspects of human nature. Although the script occasionally veers into unnecessary territory, the immersive portrayal of Santiago's journey, anchored by a stellar performance from Torres, keeps viewers engrossed throughout. Though not overtly frightening, "Disappear Completely" remains a compelling and suspenseful cinematic endeavour.

I wanted to give a 7/10 for the second half but the first half deserves a 9/10.

Inspector Rishi (2024– )

A Promising Concept Gone Terribly Awry
3 April 2024
The concept held so much promise, but turned out to be a colossal disappointment. The finale was an absolute trainwreck, as if the creators were determined to obliterate any hope of redemption. Despite the potential for spine-chilling horror with the 'Vanaratchi' theme, not a single scene managed to deliver any genuine frights. Instead, viewers are subjected to a barrage of absurd plot twists that defy all logic. The characters, particularly the lead, are unbearable to watch, with performances that lack any spark of charisma. The cinematography and scenes may offer brief respite, but they only serve to mask the glaring flaws in the storyline. 'Inspector Rishi' is an apt representation of the series as a whole - a mind-boggling mess that leaves audiences questioning their sanity. Spare yourself the agony and steer clear of this disaster.

Loved the ending 😍
24 March 2024
This movie is fantastic with an amazing ending! Highly recommended! It was a pleasant surprise from start to finish. The trailer set the stage well, but the actual movie surpassed expectations. The direction, acting, and especially the special effects were top-notch. The mix of CGI and practical effects created a captivating universe. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a possession film this much. The execution was masterful, deserving a wide audience. Visually stunning and with one of the best endings in Western film lately. Truly commendable work by everyone involved. A must-watch for horror fans.

Fighter (2024)
1/10
Worst Acting, Worst Action, Worst Direction, Worst Worst Worst
22 March 2024
"Fighter" is a disappointment, feeling like a waste of resources and time. It seems like nobody took the movie seriously. It's worse than B and C grade films. Deepika's acting is pathetic and extremely fake, her unnecessary nudity adds to the disappointment. I wonder what made a classy actress to go this cheap and low.. Hrithik's performance is annoying, with excessive overacting and cringeworthy behaviour. There's no chemistry between lead characters, and the flying scenes look fake. Overall, it's a failed attempt with poor performances, bad music, forced romance, and no real story.

This is not a movie its a shame for the makers and actors.. Doesn't even deserve a single star.

Taxali Gate (2024)
9/10
A Compelling Social Movement to Embrace for Societal Betterment
18 February 2024
"Taxali Gate" has finally arrived, and it's the movie I've been eagerly anticipating for quite some time. Let me begin by expressing that after a significant time gap, I experienced goosebumps watching a Lollywood film, the last being "Maula Jutt."

This crime thriller delves into the lives of the underprivileged inhabitants of the Taxali Gate neighborhood. Throughout its runtime, the film maintains a tight grip on its audience. Unlike the typical modern-age "Anarkali," it delivers a resounding rebuke to societal and systemic corruption, portraying the harsh realities with brutal honesty that transcends gender barriers.

Yasir Hussain's portrayal of Shafiq is nothing short of magnificent, with his natural and effortless demeanor, accent, and humorous quips adding depth to the character.

Ayesha Omar shines as Muskan, delivering the performance of her career with boldness and authenticity, particularly notable in her introduction and courtroom scenes.

Special mention must be made of Nayyar Ijaz's transformation from a jubilant wedding dancer to a shattered father, showcasing his exceptional talent.

Mehar Bano's portrayal of Zainab, transitioning from carefree to victimized, is executed with impeccable viciousness.

Iffat Omar's portrayal as a lawyer is flawless, while Umer Aalam and Babar Ali deliver commendable performances.

The cinematography stands out as one of the best in Pakistani cinema, complemented by a crisp and engaging screenplay.

This movie caters to audiences appreciative of serious cinema and stellar performances. However, the slightly lower turnout at the evening screening highlights the challenges faced by Lollywood, overshadowed by cringy caryryonjatta or other Internationally failed crap.

"Taxali Gate" exceeds expectations, offering powerful performances that elevate it to the ranks of fine Lollywood cinema. The only drawback lies in the censorship of some impactful dialogues, though subtitles partially compensate for this loss.

In conclusion, "Taxali Gate" is a must-watch for cinema enthusiasts, promising an unforgettable experience. Ayesha Omar fans, in particular, are in for a treat.

Bhakshak (2024)

"Great Performances, Flawed Execution: A Review of Bhakshak
13 February 2024
The film tackles important social issues and features commendable performances, particularly by Tanisha Mehta as Sudha, Sanjay Mishra as Bhaskar, and Bhumi Pednekar as Vaishali. Aditya Srivastav as Bansi was okay, but he had nothing extra to offer. Despite this talented cast, the movie falls short in delivering depth and intensity. It resembles a typical crime show, lacking the necessary complexity to fully engage the audience. While the performances and cinematography earn it a solid 7-star rating, the lack of innovation and substance warrants a lower score of 3 out of 10. Additionally, it feels like everything was handed to the leading lady on a silver platter. We are left wondering why and how she suddenly became motivated. She is depicted as a failed journalist, yet somehow achieves success at every turn, offering nothing new or refreshing to the narrative. Despite its flaws, the film sheds light on pressing issues such as abuse of power and the importance of honest journalism. However, its heavy-handed approach and occasional flirtation with voyeurism may alienate some viewers. Ultimately, Bhakshak offers a stark portrayal of systemic injustice but fails to deliver a truly impactful narrative.

Not Scary, but Disturbing: A Film That Stays with You
13 February 2024
This film delivers a haunting exploration of the human psyche, leaving a lasting impression with its deeply disturbing themes. While it may not adhere strictly to the conventions of traditional horror, its unsettling nature is undeniable. The frequent shifts between past and present can occasionally disrupt the narrative flow, but they add layers of depth to the storytelling. Despite this, the film manages to embed itself into the viewer's consciousness, ensuring it won't be easily forgotten.

While the attempt to emulate found footage style may not be flawless, it brings an authentic and immersive quality to the storytelling. The documentary format adds a layer of realism, and while some of the horror scenes may come off as cheesy, the inclusion of non-diegetic music enhances the atmosphere effectively. The portrayal of resilience and redemption amidst misery adds emotional weight to the narrative, even if it occasionally teeters on exploitation.

On the positive side, the film excels in building tension through its eerie atmosphere and unsettling occurrences. The tension steadily escalates, keeping the audience engaged and intrigued throughout. Although the storytelling can feel scattered and convoluted at times, the use of optical illusions and mind games adds a unique and compelling dimension to the horror experience. The vibes reminiscent of Dabbe, a Turkish movie, contribute to the film's intriguing allure.

Ultimately, this film deserves praise for its ambition and ability to evoke a sense of dread. With its mix of strengths and weaknesses, it lands solidly at a 7 out of 10 rating, making it a commendable addition to the horror genre.

Lackluster Plot Fails to Thrill or Engage
6 February 2024
The movie disappoints on multiple fronts, lacking the essential elements of excitement and suspense from start to finish. While the cast delivers satisfactory performances, the storyline fails to provide the depth necessary to breathe life into its characters. Consequently, the protagonists feel flat and underdeveloped, failing to evoke empathy or interest from the audience.

Moreover, the plot feels stale and outdated, offering little in terms of innovation or fresh perspective. It neglects to delve into the complexities of its characters, leaving viewers with a superficial and unsatisfying experience. The repetitive nature of the narrative only exacerbates these shortcomings, with the same situations playing out repeatedly without adding any meaningful depth or progression to the story.

It's baffling how this project received approval for a cinematic release, as its quality is more suited to television than the big screen. The attempt to inject tension into the plot feels forced and artificial, detracting from the overall viewing experience rather than enhancing it.

In conclusion, this film fails to deliver on its promise and is difficult to recommend. Its lack of excitement, depth, and originality make it a forgettable and ultimately unsatisfying endeavor. Instead of investing time and resources in this film, audiences would be better served seeking out more engaging and thought-provoking entertainment options elsewhere.

Loved the ending
5 February 2024
It's an enjoyable movie, not scary, with a few silly moments, but it concludes remarkably well. I have a fondness for films with unexpected climaxes, and Charlie Shotwell's performance was truly impressive. It's definitely a movie worth watching.

The film takes you on a journey of entertainment, offering a blend of amusement and excitement. While it may not fall into the horror genre, it manages to captivate the audience with its engaging storyline. The occasional silly moments add a touch of humor, making the overall experience light-hearted and enjoyable.

What sets this movie apart is its brilliant conclusion. Often, films tend to falter in their endings, but this one wraps up the narrative with finesse. The concluding scenes not only tie up loose ends but also leave the audience with a sense of satisfaction. It's a rare find to come across a movie that not only entertains throughout but also concludes in a manner that resonates with viewers.

The element of unexpected climaxes is a particular charm for me when it comes to movies. This film successfully keeps you on the edge of your seat, wondering what twist awaits around the corner. The unpredictability adds an extra layer of excitement, keeping the audience engaged from start to finish. It's this aspect that elevates the movie from being just enjoyable to truly memorable.

Now, let's talk about Charlie Shotwell's performance. He brings a depth and authenticity to his character that is truly commendable. His portrayal is not only convincing but also emotionally resonant. It's evident that he invested time and effort into understanding and embodying the role, creating a character that lingers in the minds of the audience even after the movie concludes.

The worthiness of the movie is undoubtedly heightened by Charlie Shotwell's exceptional acting. His ability to convey a range of emotions adds a layer of richness to the narrative. Whether it's moments of joy, sorrow, or suspense, Shotwell navigates through them with remarkable skill. The mark of a great performance is its ability to make you forget you're watching an actor - Shotwell achieves this seamlessly.

In conclusion, this movie, despite its lack of scares, manages to be an entertaining and fulfilling watch. The combination of enjoyable moments, unexpected climaxes, and Charlie Shotwell's stellar performance makes it a standout in its own right. It's a testament to the fact that a film doesn't always need to fit within a specific genre to leave a lasting impact. So, if you're looking for a movie that brings joy, surprises, and a commendable performance, this one is indeed worth your time.

A POWERFUL Emotional Thriller that makes some forthright commentary on current issues
17 February 2022
I won't give any spoilers but the best about "A Thursday" is that the film bravely highlights some very important points.. Yami Gautam & Neha Dhupia have given their best performance ever, Atul Kulkarni is perfect and Dimple Kapadia is brilliant & adds grace and power to her character.. There are no songs but the background score is what really contributes to the thrilling and emotional factor of the movie... Its a must watch :)
