Star Trek: Picard: Dominion (2023)
A nice reminder of DS9
This is a nice episode titled 'Dominion' that brings about many deep thoughts regarding war and Federation, similar to DS9. DS9 was a different kind of Star Trek series, and I'm always touched by its deep thoughts on religion, war, crime persecution, race problems, and more. Even though it showed a darker side of the Federation, it also made it more realistic. The characters in the show always maintained their high ethical standards, even in the darkest of times. They had to make many difficult choices, but they always managed to give a decent answer. I hope this season follows suit. However, I am disappointed by the lack of clarity around Jack and Picard's mysterious circumstances. It seems like a cliche that has been used many times before in other stories. It remains to be seen how it will be handled.
Star Trek: Picard: Imposters (2023)
Nice to see her come back
This is another absolutely great episode. I was wondering throughout the entire series what happened to Ensign Ro. I still remember the ending of the penultimate episode, where Picard was sitting in the ready room, not saying a word, just staring at the desk with great sadness and anger. Speaking of regrets, it was definitely a big regret for him. It's very nice to see that he and Ro were able to make peace and have one last conversation. It was a very touching moment that pushed the emotion to the next level. As for the plot, being familiar with the entire franchise, I can see traces of TNG S01E24 and DS9 S04E10-11. The side story of Worf is also very interesting. I almost believed that Worf was dead because he said his catchphrase. This entire season is full of surprises; I would not be surprised if I saw Captain Sisko or Admiral Janeway appearing.
Star Trek: Picard: No Win Scenario (2023)
An absolutely amazing episode
Directed by Jonathan Frakes, captain Riker himself, we finally get a true great episode of entire Picard series. I'm not saying last two seasons aren't good, but as a big fan of Star Trek franchise, I always think that last two seasons lack some basic and core signatures of Star Trek, which is dangerous space and thrill adventure, they are more like a family drama instead of hard-core sf. The entire Picard series is talking about a retired admiral's regrets. In this episode they finally manged to balance the narrative of personal drama and star fleets mission. For the first time of his entire life, Picard appeared both as a captain(admiral in fact) and a father. I have no critics for this episode. It's just amazing. I hope there will be more like this.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Hear All, Trust Nothing (2022)
Nostalgia calls
We haven't hear anything about DS9 since it ended. And I thought Captain Sisko reference of last episode is a huge and I'm glad that I was wrong. It really good to see(hear) Kira and Quark back. The plot is classic and predictable. But it is fun to watch. Even Morn was there. The interaction between Kira and Shaxs is also very interesting. I really wanted they let the ship go to gamma quadrant, so we can have a pick of it after the dominion war. The Mariner part is a little bit boring, I was hope that she can talk about more stories about DS9. Hope they make more episodes like this. And I'm really looking forward of the cross over of lower decks and strange new worlds.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part VI (2022)
It's good enough
Obi-Wan is one of my favorite characters in Star wars. As a main character of whole franchise, there is not much space to tell a brand new story. I must admit the script isn't that kind of good. Despite that, it's quite entertaining. In some kind of way, Obi-Wan is one of a few characters in star wars that have been shown for whole life journey. He was only a impatient padawan then he became a great Jedi master. He has a low point like anyone. But he managed to get over it.
Star Trek: Discovery: Coming Home (2022)
Not as stunning as I expected
Maybe they used all those good ideas on the episode 12 to create 10C's communication method, then there is nothing left to use on this episode. This episode is just like what I predicted in every single point, everyone could predict it, of cause 10c are gonna stop DMA, of cause Book isn't dead, of cause Earth rejoined federation. There is literally not a single point that shocked me or challenged me. And about 10c besides their communication way there isn't nothing new, last episode they seems very difficult to understand then in this episode they already are so easy to talk through, just a very cheesy emotional talk and they are gonna do whatever you want. I'm kind like to wish they didn't use the wormhole to send Discovery back, so that in the next season they can start a space odyssey like USS Voyager.
Star Trek: Discovery: Species Ten-C (2022)
Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra
There is a big polarization about this episode. Someone gave 1 some gave 10. And I gave it 9. I want to reclaim a fact that since the very first episode of TOS,Star Trek is a very hardcore Sci-Fi series. I remember when I watched the TOS and TNG, I always be shocked by those brilliant ideas about the unknown things. Don't forget the mission of NCC-1701: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations. 10-C doesn't disappoint me, their way of communication isn't so original like the heptapods in Arrival. But it's a big step forward from another brilliant episode Darmork( TNG S5E02). Actually for this episode I have only one word to describe it: fascinating.
The House (2022)
Fun to watch
The House is an exquisite stop-motion animation, the set and characters are very delicate, the hard work of makers can been seen. Although the central idea of plot is a little bit vague, the audience can't really tell what does it want to express.
Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna (2020)
A happyish ending
After the normal Digimon Adventure tri. This one's plot still too sample but full of emotion, and bought some deep thoughts about growing pain and death.
Meitantei Konan Hiiro no Dangan (2021)
A new era Conan animation
In recent years, Conan movie has totally became a typical hollywood action animation. It is quite fun to watch, but it lacks some original magic, no more detective and the emotion is superficial.
