Damn Good Episode
4 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Toddhavista (review above me) must be smoking CRACK !!!! That was possibly the best episode of Star Trek TNG ever! It's primarily focus is Patrick (Jean-Luc Piccard) and how he lives an entire lifetime (within 1/2 hour) on a planet that's been extinct 1000 years, due to a supernova. Rather than focus on some new technology, it brings home the point that life is for living, in the now, not later! It's, if nothing else, an episode in the style of the original Star Trek, where social commentary was veiled with SCI-FI Metaphor. I remember it vividly and was pleased to see it again, recently on the SciFi channel! The music, especially the flute melody is haunting. Definitely NOT a holodeck episode (like toddhavista says).

Damn good episode
4 September 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This was a damn good episode. Harris Yulin was superb as Guldar Heel (nice name for a villain too - get it, "HEEL" ) I loved the line "I'm your nemesis, I'm GulDar Heel"! He actually played two different character, Amin Marittza as Guldar Heel, then Amin Marittza as himself. Both were totally believable, and I love the wrap-around ending. The character at the beginning of the movie that was released from jail was told to "stay out of trouble", and he doesn't. The Cardassian that was seen as an enemy by Major Kira, is, considered , by implication, an ally. It was a hearkening back to the original star trek, where social commentary was disguised as Sci-Fi. Best episode on of that series ever!

Stanley Kubrick f*cked Stephen King's book big time!!! Casting was good, but the story got cut to shreds, and what was with that dumb @ss line "Here's Johnny"?. D@mn! Did he actually READ the book ? Heck he even knows his movie sucked because he forbade Stephen King from saying what he thought about Kubrick's adaptation (bastardization) in public ! Like I said, the casting WAS good, I'll give him that. Jack Nicholson played the part well. The actress that played Wendy was good too. Scatman Crouthers did well too. However, Kubrick put stuff in that wasn't in the book, and he ripped the ending of the book to shreds. Anyone who read the book knows the main character doesn't freeze to death in the story!!

As far as I'm concerned, the only good movie Kubrick's made is "Full Metal Jacket". Don't waste your money on this movie, read the book instead! My review is REALLY " - 100 out of 10 " !!!

Loved IT!
25 June 2007
I remember this movie when it came out on Television!! I love it. Yes, liberties were taken. Just about every book made into a television movie has the same issue. I loved the voices, I liked the music ("Where there's a whip, there is a way!") The movie was an excellent introduction to J.R.R Tolkien. Ralph Baski's version was a very messed up version - THAT's the one you don't want to see! Brother Theodore was perfect as Gollum John Huston rocked as Gandalf I also liked the music (okay, the balladeers voice was a bit annoying!) Good movie overall - might be a bit scary for the young ones tho! "One ring to bind them, one ring to find them, one ring to rule them all and in the darkness bind them, in Modor where the shadows lie"

Hey Theo
20 June 2007
This is more for Theo Robertson - but it can be for anyone with a similar viewpoint. Therapy CAN change an abusive person IF they decide they want to change. I am proof! I went into group therapy because I thought I had "a problem with my anger". I saw a lot of parallels between myself and Paul Hegstrom. I wasn't nearly as abusive, but I had the same type of characteristics, right up to the point of telling the counselor that I had "an anger problem", pretty much like Paul Hegstrom did. Just like he, himself, I learned that I had been taught that behavior, that's where it started. Knowing exactly what the problem was gave me a starting point to change it! Just like he did. The movie's excellent and I was blown away by John Ritter's portrayal. At first I didn't even believe it WAS him because I've never seen him play anything other than a humorous character. The movie's excellent!
