Blue Bloods: Redemption (2021)
One of My Favorite Episodes
Don't miss the family dinner scene. Absolutely hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing long after the scene was over. The actress playing the disabled detective was very good, very believable. Not sure the resolution reached in this episode would ever happen in the real world, but it was good drama all the same. The same for Erin's story line. The woman playing the mother of the girl killed was very good. She really tugged at my heart strings, and I liked how Erin resolved the sentencing issue. Brigid Moynihan has really come a long, long way as an actress. She should make more feature films, but I guess the shooting schedule for BB prevents that.
Blue Bloods: Inside Jobs (2013)
Teddy's Playbook
Frank's handling of the situation with the racist speaker was right out of Teddy Roosevelt's playbook, a man we know he admires greatly. During Roosevelt's tenure as NYC Police Commissioner, a man organized a gathering for the purpose of inciting anti-semitism. Although Teddy couldn't prevent the meeting, he detailed Jewish police officers to protect the speaker while he was denouncing Jews. Very effective.
Blue Bloods: Hate is Hate (2021)
So Glad It's Back
I enjoyed this episode. Seems like Espinoza's pulling rank on Jamie is a sign of a contentious relationship to come. Can't stand the DA. She's all "law and order" only when it suits her. Watch your back Erin. Great to see Jack at the family dinner table but why no mention of it? Did he graduate or just home for a visit? Soooo happy to see Danny go out and have some fun, especially with Maggie, the medium. I think they make a great couple. It's been four seasons since Linda died. It's time for Danny to start dating.
Blue Bloods: Your Six (2018)
Perfect Episode
This is my all-time favorite episode. The dialogue between Anthony and Erin is snappy and hilarious, and Danny's hate/hate relationship with Victor Lugo is on full display. Steve Schirripa's addition to the cast was a stroke of genius. I look forward every week to what he is going to do but more to what he is going to say in his Brooklynese. Such a shame that Nick Cordero, who played Victor Lugo, passed away from COVID. I looked forward to that character appearing from time to time and totally irritating Danny, the Defective Detective.
The Outsider (2020)
Faithful Adaptation of King's Novel
I was so looking forward to this series as I had just finished reading the novel. It was very faithful to the novel and the acting was exceptional, especially Jason Bateman and Ben Mendelssohn. My only real criticism was the casting of Olivia Erivo as Holly Gibney. Holly, as portrayed by Justine Lupe in the Mr. Mercedes series, was pure perfection, exactly as described by King in appearance and demeanor. Ms. Erivo may have talents but acting isn't one if them. I think she was awful. If the original actress was not available for this series, they should have at least cast someone who fulfilled Stephen King's vision of the character.
