Amphibia: All In (2022)
WOW
It was paced perfectly, and showed literally everything it needed to. A true contender for true colours. The emotional moments completely blended in with the 'robots and explosions and stuff' side of things.
And the music... TJ has really incorporated Marcy's theme into every possible place. I was crying at multiple moments.
10/10.
Infinity Train (2019)
my favourite show, period.
For me nothing will ever be able to top this show. It's so disappointing that a show this genius got cancelled and it's potential was wasted. Everything from the concept, plot, animation, characters and visuals makes it practically perfection. Each of the books take on a new perspective and tough themes which are handled so perfectly and carefully. I will review each book because I feel as though they shouldn't be lumped together.
Book 1- 9/10
The most 'kids show' book to this date, although the quality of it doesn't have to be sacrificed in order to be kid friendly. Taking on the concept of divorce in a kids show isn't something seen very often, but Infinity Train handles it so well with a very realistic portrayal. The mystery of this season is what makes it so good and different from the other books, and the way Tulip works her way through it is very cleverly written.
Book 2- 10/10
This book genuinely changed my life. It's beautiful, borderline artwork, to show someone struggling for the right to be autonomous, to be a person. The characters all bounce off each other and are written for specific purposes, making this book even more genius. I love it.
Book 3- 10/10
Genuinely blew me away. I went in with expectations and came out with them completely shattered, it diverted every prediction I had and that is what makes it so clever. It is by definition a tragedy, with a more modern spin on it and excellent characterisation. The whole book is so textured and heavy that still months after watching it I am working on character and plot analysis, and I am still finding parallels and deeper meanings.
Book 4- 9/10
The less appreciated book of the show, but I still love it. Despite the fact of it's intentions to be comedic (and these aspects were really good!) it doesn't sacrifice it's quality for comedy. Both themes worked so well in confliction and I think it's amazing, albeit less good than the previous two books.
Infinity Train: The Twin Tapes (2021)
my life force
This episode, man. This episode! It is absolutely genius! The animation, techniques used, voice acting, and everything else make it near perfection to me.
First things first I LOVE these characters. Ryan is adorable, I love him and Min-Gi has a very unique and interesting arc across season 4 but also in this individual episode. Both of their flaws are quickly presented in an efficient yet not rushed way, and doing so through tapes (which provides a new idea for a first episode we have not seen before on this show).
One of my favourite parts was the split screen. I know Owen said he worked hard on that part and it was so worth it! I was in awe watching it for the first time, and it worked so well!
In conclusion, I love this episode, watch infinity train.
Infinity Train: The New Apex (2020)
amazing!
The fact that this episode is the highest rated and has no reviews just shows how underrated this show is! This is my favourite episode and depicts Simon's fall really well. I love this show, we need a season 5! #finishinfinitytrain.
Infinity Train: The Origami Car (2020)
oh my god!?!
This episode is perfect. It makes you feel so many emotions all at once, and the look through Grace's mind is so well done, the voices sounding like they are underwater and the tape catching at the end. Phenomenal from start to finish. 10/10.
Amphibia: Froggy Little Christmas (2021)
had high hopes
I am honestly not sure how I feel about this episode, it's obviously good but it didn't live up to my expectations. I was expecting Marcy, but maybe that'll be saved for the finale. I liked the ending where Sasha and Marcy's families were finally addressed, but generally felt underwhelming. This opinion is either going to be very popular or unpopular :)
Amphibia: Spider-Sprig/Olivia & Yunan (2021)
wow
I am going to review these separately because i don't think there is any comparison.
Spider-sprig: 6/10 not abnormally bad but had a really predictable plot and the same lessons being learnt again and again, the girl with the coloured hair is cute though
olivia and yunan: 10/10 i knew what i was in for when i started watching this but WOW. I was hooked from start to finish, olivia and yunan's dynamic was amazing, the simulation is such a cool concept, despite knowing what was going to eventually happen to marcy i still felt the impact, i was in shock by the end. I just wish it could be in the 24 minute format. My favourite 10 minute episode so far.
The entire thing: 8.5/10.
Helluva Boss: Ozzie's (2021)
my favourite episode so far
I love the songs and the character development in this episode! Felt more serious and heavy than some of the other episodes so far, but I think Blitzo and Stolas's relationship needed that. Excited for part 2!
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Once Upon a Time in the Waste (2019)
imo the most underrated episode.
The most interesting 'transition' episode I've seen! Showing Mara's message with little blips is really perfection, and the emotional climax is just beautiful. Both A and B plots were great, Catra's plot added to her character psychology so much and the A plot with our main characters introduced Mara and her whole story. I love this episode and don't think it is talked about enough.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Remember (2019)
wow
I don't have much to say apart from the fact I love how the finale takes place over two episodes without being part 1 and 2. When Catra pulls the lever in the episode before you think, well that's it then how can they stretch this out over two episodes? It wasn't stretched out at all! The plot and ideas are amazing and the final showdown between Adora and Catra left me in shock.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Beast Island (2019)
So underrated!
I never hear anyone mention this episode but it's fantastic! The vines and the droning are terrifying concepts and the dialogue showing character's internal struggles at a low point in their lives is flawless.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: The Portal (2019)
why is this 8.4 stars?
Wowwwww so many parts of this episode give me chills! The whole concept of unknowingness and change is amazing, and it's executed so well! Angella is an amazing character and it's sad she had to sacrifice herself but it created amazing emotion and subverts the 'chosen one' trope which I love!
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Fractures (2019)
amazing follow up
Going into this episode after watching hero I had low expectations but wow!
The plot and the psychology of this episode is so human, despite being set on another planet. The ending gets me every time and Catra's breakdown was something I had to pause and think about after. Wow just quality.
She-Ra and the Princesses of Power: Hero (2019)
chefs kiss
DAMN.
This show is amazing and this episode is one of my favourites out of all the amazing ones there are! I have rewatched Mara's message so many times I remember every word- just wow. Amazing 11/10.
