The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Such a huge disappointment.
I was so hyped for this show. I even saw the movies for the 100th time in readiness for the show and after two episodes, let's just say I was utterly disappointed. First, the actress playing Lady Galadriel didn't do the character any justice or good. I don't want to believe that that is the Galadriel that grew into the beacon of light and gentleness and wisdom and warmth that Cate Blanchet was in the movies. This Galadriel is cold, selfish, arrogant and quite frankly annoying. I don't know if it's the actress or the role but it was wrong. Perhaps she was trying to put forth as a headstrong, dogged, strong willed warrior but she came off as uncaring, very selfish and disobedient. The LOTR movies and even The Hobbit trilogy were masterpieces. Every action, every dialogue, every interaction was meaningful. This show can not even stay with a character long enough for one to even relate to them, they jump from one plot to another and before the get to the one you started with you have forgotten where you last saw them or what they were doing, and the entire time you're wondering where it'll all lead because every plot is so disjointed. Unlike most shows that you can't wait to get to the next episode I find that I lack the zeal to even see what happens next, that is how I know a show is bad.
I don't understand the good reviews I see everywhere. It is very underwhelming.
The Outwaters (2022)
The most boring, annoying, pointless and aimless movie I've ever seen
This was a pain to watch. There really wasn't much to watch or see because over half of the entire movie is shrouded in darkness and vague features, with only a small circle of light from a very poor flashlight shedding light on pointless things. Watching the main character go from sane to weird in a twinkle of an eye was the most torturous part for me. Then scenes jumping from day to night within seconds. This movie should have been titled POINTLESS. That is just what it is, annoyingly pointless at that. This movie had a direction but it couldn't just be put together well and clear enough to get there.
Red Rose (2022)
Disappointing and underwhelming.
It started off really good, it looked like it would be interesting and I was loving the mystery and horror undertone. But as it progresses it became less interesting and unimpressive. The characters took senseless actions in most cases, most times their reactions are either uncalled for or lacking when it was necessary. I know it's fiction but most of their actions in the series were unrealistic. They couldn't stick to a plan they came up with to minimize the risks and dangers. I mean they decided to have a lock in just to eliminate any unknown variable but opened the door at the first knock of an unexpected guest.
Violation (2020)
Very Annoying
Had a good premise, but everything else ruined the movie. The unnecessary nature scenes, the unnecessary nudity, the too long scenes because of unnecessary discussions. Then the going back and forth in periods. The chronology was really confusing. I got frustrated watching this movie. One good thing though, it makes committing murder look like such a tedious job.
