The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
The King and his new clothes
On what planet is this entertainment? It was deliberately created to get critical acclaim. You can have more fun sawing your own fingers off with a rusty pen knife.
The plot is dire. The beginning is dire, the middle is dire and the end is dire.
Creating movies is not just about throwing together a bunch of good actors with provincial accents. Throwing in some scenery and tatty old jumpers.
It's a trick anyone can do, in the belief that no one will say that the king is not wearing clothes. You can always rely on those who believe they should like, it to bolster the review ratings. But the truth is out there if you think for yourself !!!!!
Samaritan (2022)
I thought it would be crap, but it wasn't
I really liked this film. It reminded me of going to the cinema when I was a kid. Popcorn and all the trimmings and a super hero thrown in for good measure.
Stallone was Stallone. The role suited him. The effects are excellent. Obviously, the storyline was predictable, but it was just like eating an apple pie and custard. You know what you are going to get, but it hits the spot.
I particularly liked the computer graphics where they generated a younger Stallone. Isn't technology wonderful.
So if you are up for simple entertainment in a style gone by, this is the film for you.
I hope he makes a sequel.... I suspect he will.
Emily in Paris (2020)
What a refreshing change
For me this is such a refreshing change...... Great scenery across Paris. Excellent dialogue and Lilly Collins is great. Ok, full of French stereotypes.... but accurate stereotypes LOL.
On my new OLED TV the images are stunning. Ignore the critics....watch it.
Sadly series 3 is almost ruined by Lucien Laviscount. Talk about dreadful casting.
Union Bound (2016)
Good Grief
Dreadful. Low budget does not per se mean a bad film, so there is no excuse. Turgid dialogue and poor direction. The actors are pretty good to be fair. The music is decent and the actors made a fist of it. But whoever wrote it should maybe find another career. Also the director is culpable.
A Reckoning (2018)
Good Grief
I would rather saw my own b*llocks off with a rusty pen knife.
