Play Vs. Movie
3 April 2005
This movie is without a doubt one of the most amazing films I've seen for quite a while, but as a huge fan of Marber, I was a little upset when comparing the two. Both are excellent, but if we're being honest, don't see both. Choose one or the other. The play is more depressing, but also much more brutally honest whereas, in the process of taking the play to the big screen, several things had to be changed to make it more Hollywood, a.k.a. less depressing. Another thing that kinda got to me was the Britishness of it all. It was supposed to be British, it was good British, but when you get two American actresses to play the lead roles, see if you can get rid of the British slang, they just sound kinda dumb saying it.

Brilliant!

I can say easily that this movie is without a doubt one of the most amazing films I've seen this year. It excellently blended so many genres of films, from the dark comedic aspect to the romantic love story that most people know the French for. However, to add on to that, the cinematography and actors certainly didn't hurt the movie. The style of the movie was gorgeous and brilliant in it's depiction of emotions, that we often see conveyed in the color scheme of the environment. For example, in an especially romantic scene, the frame is filled with deep purples and passionate reds, colors that seem to strengthen the emotion. As for the actors, they show so much talent in their roles, and in their characters. All in all, just plain perfect.

Okay

I thought this movie was actually pretty good. It was just enough to keep you wondering, but not desperately trying to be scary. I didn't think it was all too scary, but still worth watching. The one thing you must know if you see this movie is it's more of a psychological thriller than a "scary" movie. It'll make it seem better if you know what you are going to see than just guessing that it's a scary movie. Overall I thought it was ok, but kind of confusing. Some of my friends hated it, but only because they didn't understand it. With a strong plot and a talented cast, I say this movie is worth looking at.

AWESOME

That is the only way to describe it. I loved this movie. It shows an interesting take on undercover agent Joe Pistone a.k.a Donnie Brasco. Not only does it show how he progresses in the mafia it shows his personal life as it deteriarates. I highly suggest this movie to all who love drama and any who love crime as well.
