It goes nowhere.

It's not fish, it's not meat, it doesn't have excellent acting. It's not science fiction. It's not mystic fiction. It's not adolescent drama. It's not really anything in the end. Misfired. 35-40 minutes too long than needed. If it would have decided for a path or the other it would have been a 7/10. And the ending it's just a mesh up of Jean D'Arc, ET and a scientology advertising wrap into a multiproperties advertising for retired people in Florida or something. Really,no. I miss 104 character to post this review so i will keep on writing something that took up characters. Ok.

Josephine and Napoleon love story
27 November 2023
And that's it, really. Entertaining as a couple thing sort of movie but luck much more.

More battles in the trailer than in the movie.

Good job for her and him buth the movie luck all the epic about Napoleon figure as politician and military and so on. Seems like a copy paste of highlights of a series.

I liked Kirby and Phoenix but this could have a way better. Essentially you watch at the cinema for a couple of scenes and no more. It's sketchy and jumps a lot in times and latitudes without political and social context. Kind of a misfire.

Talleyrand, Dumas, Ney, LaSalle, Murat, they could have been usade like larger than life characters of a war and adventure movie but no nothing of it. Way better The duelists.

Yeah, it is good but what's the story are you trying to tell me?

The way this movie unfolds towards the end it's quite a pity. It's like a chain of nice, funny, entertaining scenes all of them tied to the romance between her and him. In the end you ask yourself: ok, apart from the love story AND the town AND the time waht are you trying to tell me? It's a pity, this could have been a much chorus movie and it get you emotionally at the start but then it kind of dissolves toward the end. I didn't like it at all the last 5 minutes of the movie.

Ok...so what?

Best screenplay in Venice? Looks like the "Titane" syndrome hit Venice as well. There is a misunderstanding between empty provocation (ahem, to call it someway) and quality. This screenplay was based on some (just some) good ideas but was wasted away, falling into chicles written by someone who thinks to know the country he's living in watching the brutes from his hivory tower of Roma Nord "that was like Vietnam", in his own words. The best thing about this movie it's the fact that the director/actor is the son of another famous director and a writer. He would not have done this movie nor won the prize if he was the son of a butcher or a milkman. That's Italy, yeah, indeed.

Don't Look Up (2021)

DiCaprio save the day: don't look this movie.

Ok, so we have a Trump age/ web tech destroying world capitalism set; offered by Netflix, who feed on the same public that depicts as dumbass monkeys armed with cell phones and not so much brain. Kind of, the producer feeds on the garbage that his public already consumed. Fine with me, but what's the point of this movie? Do we need another refresh reminding us what kind of society we are? DiCaprio did a good job for the part we was required too, the rest it's just meaningless. Seriously, there was no need for a movie like this. Unless you need to feel better laughing of other people dumber than you: but there are already realities shows for that, are they not? :-)

Mythological creatures and where to find them.

Warning: Spoilers
All in all this is a very classic story, kind of the Minotaur and the labyrinth.

The labyrinth is an Iceland factory; the Minotaur it's a creature born for the wish of a mother and father to substitute their dead daughter. But when you ask favors to the gods you then should be prepaired to not anger them.

Very enjoyable with a few slips

I like Ridley Scott because his movies are like well fed horses, they run on and on and leave you on saddle and let you enjoy the ride (although sometimes you fell down, dropped by cliches and anti-originality like in robin Hood, that one was bad apart the first battle scene). That said: i'm from Tuscany and i found the italian accent of some of the actors quite bad. Man, you want them to have an italian accent, then train them. Also, an italian will never ever ask for an "espresso", he/she will ask for a "caffe'". Yeah, i know, i'm getting insufferable; i just expect higher details quality from a Ridley production like this one: hire a damn italian coach next time or let them talk in their own accent, maybe. Lady Gaga is very good; Paolo character is sometimes too much annoying in his sillines to entertain you as the director intended. All in all, it's 8 out of 10 for me because as a rise-and-fall-of-an-empire kind of a movie it's very entertaining.

Rashomon in an european middle age set.

Same story, 3 characters, 3 different truths.

Although here in the end you guess who's lying and who's not. Good movie, has to be seen on a theater wide screen.

Hang the DJ hang the DJ hang the DJ

Warning: Spoilers
First half wasn't bad; the second half when it starts putting in God, Bob Marley and cheap feel good philosophy about what is it to be a human being in those evil time it's pitiful. I watched it and feel it was a pity. Then I read the original book and felt outraged thinking how bad and a waste it is to make a movie like this pretending to adapt a superb novel like that. The point of the novel was completely downcasted and that would have been acceptable IF that was in favor of something original and provoking. Instead it gave us a lame and cheesy happy ending and some good reggae music. Hang the DJ.

Like fast food.

Ok to pass 1 hour and a half in a cinema if you don't have nothing to do better. Far worst than the first Venom. I guess I would have like it better if I was drunk, stoned, 17 years old but none the less it would have been boring and predictable all the same. It's like buying fast food because you don't find another alternative. Worst movie with Hardy and Harrelson I have see.

Is pineapple on pizza provoking or is it just good?

This movie seems to have a main story underneath with a sprinkle of sci-fi on top. Then you shake it and mix the genres and taste it and not even one of them taste glorious. But probably if you're an hipster in your 30s you will shout "Miracle!" after having watched this. What happens with this movie it's similar with "Annette": the director seems to state to the audience "Look here, I'm a very wise, and smart, and badass and provoking dude, are you feel amazed by this show of wits and outrage?" in most of the scenes. Well, it fell short at least with me. It has some good ideas and some interesting scenes, Vincent character it's played very good but in the end it will not be unforgivable. Margine note: 40% of the audience in the theater clapped at the credits, the other 60% went out puzzled. PD: i can't believe it get 9 minutes of standing ovation in Cannes and that Spike Lee and rest of the jury give it the first prize.

Bad acting, por plot, worst ending
3 October 2021
20-25 good minutes at most then it's forgettable. Actually it was the movie that gave me the will to open an account on IMDb after whatching it in a teather, because i couldn't believe all the 10/10 ratings.

With another director the idea could have been a good sci-fi movie but it came out as poor as some actors acting in it.
