Kill List (2011)
A disappointment from beginning to end
well, saw it today at Odeon Covent Garden, London. Didn't know much about it except it had a few rave reviews and promised thrills. yea right. I love horror, I love tension and I love thrillers. But this is neither of the 3. It starts very very slow, slower than the fantastic "REC" (spanish horror film) but unlike the latter, never really picks up. The killing targets are not developed enough for us to really feel for the job they do: killing bad people, apparently. Some good bludgeoning scenes but without the plot to back it up, it is pretty pointless. The ending? That also made no sense. I did like the Irish main actor, I stayed till the end to see him act.
Death Sentence (2007)
really DID NOT regret renting this film.
I actually never heard of it and sadly missed on what a great cinema experience it could have been. Instead i looked at what Bacon had been in recently and this came up so added it on my rental list. WHAT A FIND.
I was rooting for his character from the word go and Bacon did not let me down. Yes, there are far fetched moments but who cares. When one wants revenge not much will stop one, so maybe it is not that far fetched after all! Revenge give you wings, that should be the slogan for this movie. Rent it if you missed out, go for BLU RAY for better action and gore and enjoy the tense 2 hours you are about to spend! If you like this, do also rent "GRAN TORINO", "LAW ABIDING CITIZEN" & "TAKEN". You will not be disappointed!
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
why would a 60 year old go and watch something like"American PIE" (or this movie)and be surprised they didn't laugh?
This film is truly HILARIOUS!!!!
if YOU LIKE films LIKE: "AMERICAN PIE, MEET THE PARENTS, 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN, SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, DUMB AND DUMBER. if you don't find those remotely funny then do not even try it. and don't bore us either on here. cast your vote if you like, good for you. there are some scenes i was still giggling even 2 minutes after, they were so comical, I needed recovery time. Most of the actors are brilliant especially THE MAIN GUY, THE ROCK STAR/SEX GOD, THE surf dude (from "FRIENDS"), THE GROUPY WAITER.and a few more. Sarah Marshall is easily forgotten but who cares the rest of the cast will soon be a part of my DVD collection when this baby comes out!! THIS IS FAR BETTER THAN THE HYPED KNOCKED UP, AS IT is packed with better jokes and comedy moments i'm dying to see again. and the storyline keeps it very smooth too.
MR 73 (2008)
Captivating & A Dark statement from an Ex Cop.
As i was thrilled by the action, acting and dark side of MARCHAL' s "36", i decided not to miss his next film. there is less action like" Heat" but more reflection and gruesome images, like in SEVEN, if you like. Auteuil and the girl are perfect. you feel for both. you love to hate the baddies as we all did in "36", but it just shows that in the police force, of any nationality by the way, there are some who do their jobs for the right reasons and some who have lost faith, and the notion of good. i loved the ending and i will not spoil it for you. a great plot , 2 to be exact. it is refreshing to watch a film noir as good as,if not better than when they first came out 50 years ago. Auteuil is a great one for those. Depardieu in the next movie again would be the icing on Marchal' s cake.
